The tennis tournament which took place on Saturday (10/10) was held lively. The tournament was started from 07:00 AM to 01:00 PM. Held in the Undip Rusunawa tennis court area, this tournament was attended by Undip employees which came from: faculty units, institutions, and university center. This competition was held by implementing health protocols.
According to the Vice Rector I, Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D, sports tournament was held in commemoration of Undip’s anniversary in order to make Undip academic community members close to each other. “We are trying to build kinship between the faculty clubs with other units such as universities and university staff (educators, ed). They are going to play together representing their respective units. This match is for building strong relationship even though the players are from different units”, said Prof. Budi Setiyono.
As for the winner for this tennis tournament, 4th place was won by Prof. Budi Setyono – Cuk; 3rd place was won by Dr. Amr – Satrio, the 2nd winner was won by the Prof. Darto – Johan, and the first winner, Prof. Heru – Rahmawan. Each winner will receive cash by a number of Rp. 500,000., Rp. 750,000., Rp. 1000,000., Rp. 1,500,000., and trophy awards.
Dr. Redyanto Noor, M.Hum, as the Head of the Undip Tennis Association, admitted that he was excited about the holding of tennis tournament in celebration of Undip’s birthday. “Global obstacles such as Covid-19 pandemic should not diminish our enthusiasm to celebrate this anniversary, of course by adjusting the pandemic situation. No problem. Now there are quite a lot of participants, because other competitions were not held so the activity is concentrated to this tournament”, said Redyanto Noor.
The tennis tournament is one of a series of UNDIP’s 63rd Anniversary activities. The other activities of series of UNDIP’s 63rd Anniversary including: international conferences on marine science and public health, social services, badminton and tennis tournaments, series of virtual talk shows of alumni gathering, tree planting in Penggaron forest which was held on 11 October, and the scientific oration by Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia on 15 October which is the highlight of 63rd Anniversary of Diponegoro University.
