SEMARANG -Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) is finalizing the scenario for implementation of Face-to-Face Lectures which is likely to be held in July 2021. Face-to-Face Lectures finalization is carried out to minimize the health risks that may arise from these activities.
Undip Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Budi Setiyono, Ph.D, said that it is possible that Face-to-Face Lectures will be held in July 2021. “However, UNDIP itself is still waiting for detailed implementation instructions from the Ministry of Education and Culture,” he confirmed, on Friday (9/4/2021).
According to him, the things needed to support the implementation of Face-to-Face Lectures continue to be identified and studied more deeply, especially in fields related to the possible health risk. University leaders are also discussing several scenarios for implementing Face-to-Face Lectures with Board of Faculties and the Student Organizations.
This process is important to anticipate the emergence of undesirable things in the implementation of Face-to-Face Lectures. However, currently the Covid-19 pandemic is still happening. “We are still talking about it, both in UNDIP structural, academic senate, Semarang City Government and Central Java Provincial Government,” he explained.
Therefore, Undip did not want to rush in holding Face-to-Face Lectures trials, because there are a number of considerations. ”Among our considerations is that there are our staffs infected by Covid-19 until last week. Moreover in two weeks ago, some staffs died, include the late Prof. Miyasto (Professor of Faculty of Economics and Business) due to Covid-19. So that we will take the safest steps.”
There are several steps to minimize the risk taken by the institution, such as vaccinating all lecturers and education staff. The university also suggested that students who want to take lectures offline must have been vaccinated. That way, the risks that may arise in Face-to-Face Lectures can be reduced.
Another thing that is prepared by the university is the possibility of implementing an odd-even system of learning pattern models which aims to limit congestion and density in the process of Face-to-Face Lectures. This model uses the registered student identification number, for example, when the schedule of Face-to-Face Lectures is for even number, then students with even student identification numbers can join lectures online and vice versa. “It will also consider its implications. For example, whether offline lectures are important to be done or not for some study programs,” he added.
Interestingly, the university is also analyzing Single Tuition Fee related to the implementation of existing lectures. Inputs from students are currently being gathered to be processed as a consideration for the university in making Single Tuition Fee policies. (PR team)
