UNDIP Inaugurated 1,504 Graduates at Offline Graduation

Semarang, Central Java (17/05). For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic, Diponegoro University (Undip), Semarang held the 166th Graduation Ceremony offline, which was held in 8 stages for 4 days, from May 17-20, 2022 with 2 stages held in each day. The graduation ceremony was followed by 1,504 graduates.

In his speech, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama S.H., M.Hum., congratulated the graduates who were officially entitled to their new titles. “Starting this graduation, I as the Rector congratulate the students who have just graduated at the 166th Graduation Ceremony as Doctors, Masters, Specialists, Professionals, Bachelors, Diplomas 3, and Diploma 4. I pray that you will be successful and achieve what you aspire to, both in the world and the hereafter,” said Prof. Yos.

Prof. Yos added that Undip graduates should be proud and should remain grateful for having their studies completed at Undip. Currently there are dozens of study programs at Undip that have been accredited by international institutions both by ABEST, IABEE, ASIIN, FIBAA and the university has been accredited A.

In addition, Undip has also achieved various achievements, including the National 1st rank of the Best University in the QS version whose alumni get the fastest job; 2nd National and 30th World Ranking of the Best GreenMetric University in 2020 and 2021; 2nd rank of the Best PTNBH University 2020-2021 version of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology; as well as being included in the top 5 favorite universities of SNMPTN admission in the year of 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022.

Prof. Yos advised the graduates to continue to instill integrity and sincerity. With integrity, graduates are expected to compete in the world in a chivalrous and ethical manner. “Integrity also means sincerity, meaning that all our actions, deeds, words, are not solely for our personal interests, but the main goal is to make other people as happy as possible,” he said.

“Our most beautiful crown that makes us proud is not a title, occupation, wealth, position, but the happy smile of others we serve with our profession. We should be happy to see other people happy and sad to see other people suffering,” continued Prof. Yos.

In addition, graduates are expected to continue to improve their quality and continue to innovate things in a good way. “Therefore, after you leave the door of this building, put the spirit in your heart to always improve the quality of your service in any field, make it every day with the spirit of Fastabiqul khairat, competing in goodness to achieve better quality,” said Prof. Yos.

“To improve this quality, Undip provides opportunities for fresh graduates except PPDS to continue their further studies at Undip with the same amount of tuition fees of what they paid for S1 or D4 or D3 studies. This policy is also applied for Masters graduates who want to pursue doctoral degrees. Today must be better than yesterday. Strive to try and make the smallest innovations in every step we take, so that life will be better. As Ki Hadjar Dewantara advised: Niteni, Nirokke, Nambahi, Nemokke, and that’s all we can do now and start from ourselves,” he continued.

Furthermore, Prof. Yos added that graduates must always love their homeland and obey the law. As a citizen of the Republic of Indonesia, obeying applicable laws is a form of love for the nation. “The ship of this country will be able to reach the gates of the country of Baldatun Thoyyibatun wa rabbhun ghaffur, only if we love the country, tolerate each other, and love our fellow citizen by obeying the nation’s laws,” said Prof. Yos.

Moreover, the changing times with the industrial revolution 4.0 has resulted in many obstacles and it is even more difficult to find jobs. Undip graduates are expected not to give up easily. “We, a nation of warriors, must not give up on the rigors of the times. Even if being slammed, shattered, rebuilt, slammed, destroyed, rebuilt, attacked by the changing times, Insyaallah Undip alumni will always be winners in the world,” he concluded.

While the Head of the Undip Secretariat and Protocol, Dr. Agus Suherman, S.Pi., M.Si explained that the graduation ceremony was also attended by the Chair of the Academic Senate, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Vice Rectors, Deans of Faculties/Schools, and officials from Undip.
