UNDIP Held Workshop of Assistance on Bilingual Website and Standardization on Official Website

In order to maximize the achievement of the Main Performance Index (IKU) of the Diponegoro University (Undip) on Strategic Plan regarding the Number of English-language Pages of Study Program and the Official Website Updates of each Faculty/School, Department, and Study Program, Undip held an Assistance on Bilingual Website and Standardization on Official Website of Diponegoro University on Friday to Saturday, August 12-13, 2022 at Lorin Solo Hotel.

The event was attended by the Vice Rector III for Communication and Business, Deputy Dean II of each Faculty and School, Head of the Communication and Business Bureau, Director of the Directorate of Information Technology, Communication and Reporting, and representatives of education staff of each Faculty and School in Undip.

In his remarks, Vice Rector III for Communication and Business, Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D., conveyed that the availability of information on the website is very important for all students, be it Indonesian students or foreign students. With the increasing number of foreign students studying at Undip, English-language website facilities are also needed as a source of information.

“Regarding the acceptance of international students and in the effort to reach Undip’s goal as a World Class University (WCU), English-language website facilities are very necessary. WCU must of course meet the standards of information coverage requirements that are convincing for users, meaning that users must be able to know Undip’s condition as a whole before they decide to study at our campus.” explained Prof. Budi.

The lack of website facilities in English can result in a lack of information for prospective international students to register at the university. Actually quite a lot of prospective international students have registered, but registration is postponed when they don’t follow the next procedure/flow because they don’t have sufficient information.” he said.

Prof. Budi added that the availability of comprehensive information and English-language website could be an important benchmark for Undip. “All of this would not be possible if we did not have information facilities and the availability of information that is easily accessible for international audiences. If we target students from abroad, of course we need an English website.” he explained.

In addition, the completeness of the facilities in a website is closely related to information services and public satisfaction. “Thus, the University is expected to be able to meet the information needs of prospective students including the information for international students. In addition, it can boost our performance indicators and rankings in several aspects. So the content must be more varied and the information available on our website is updated with the latest information.” he concluded.
