UNDIP Discusses Cooperation with the Delegation of Victoria University (VU) Sydney and Swinburne University of Technology Sydney

Diponegoro University (Undip) welcomed a visit from the delegation of Victoria University (VU) Sydney and Swinburne University of Technology Sydney on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 15:00 WIB. This visit aims to be a forum for discussion and the initiation of collaboration between universities to prepare excellent students with global capabilities. Located at the Video Conference Room, Widya Puraya Building, Undip Tembalang, this event was attended by representatives from the Undip International Office (IO) and Faculties, Undip Cooperation Bureau, and representatives from Victoria University (VU) Sydney and Swinburne University of Technology Sydney.

The event opened with a brief welcome from Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D. as the Head of IO Undip who also acted as a moderator in this discussion. “Welcome to all participants and representatives of Victoria University (VU) Sydney and Swinburne University of Technology Sydney. Hopefully this discussion can be the first step for all of us for further cooperation,” said Anggun.

Dony Vernianto, In Country Manager of Indonesia of Education Center of Australia who is a representative of Victoria University (VU) Sydney and Swinburne University of Technology Sydney, explained the choice of programs that are possible to be a collaborative program. Swinburne University excels in IT and engineering, ranking 83rd in the world as the best IT university. There are only master programs on the Sydney campus. Both universities offer many choices of study programs that have the possibility to collaborate with study programs at Undip. Especially for the Civil Engineering, Mathematical Science, Architecture Engineering study programs which have great potential for collaboration with Undip.

Head of IO FT Undip, Mada Sophianingrum, S.T., M.T., M.Sc. explained the cooperation programs run by FT Undip including degree programs (exchange, summer courses, joint-studio) and non-degree programs (seminars, visiting lectures). There are 5 IUP (International Undergraduate Program) study programs so the Dean of FT Undip seeks to facilitate students to have many options for getting international exposure.

Pandji Triadyaksa, S.Si., M.Sc. as the Head of IO FSM Undip also expressed the same thing, mentioning that FSM Undip actively organizes visiting lectures and joint-classes to support university rankings towards World Class University.

This discussion resulted in many areas of cooperation that could potentially be used as inter-university programs, including collaboration of in-bound and out-bound students in discussing case studies, for example regarding ERP, cyber security, and others. The cooperation proposal can be initiated before discussing the Memorandum of Understanding which also regulates the tuition fee which can be quite expensive, so inter-university policies are needed so that students can continue their studies abroad at affordable costs.
