Master Program of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (FT Undip) has just held the 27th Webinar Series with the theme “Research Edge in Industrial Engineering and Management”, on Tuesday (30/08) at 15.30 WIB. Dr. Ir. Ratna Purwaningsih, S.T., M., IPU, ASEAN.ENG (Chairman of the Department of Industrial Engineering Undip) and Dr. Parwa Oryzanti (Young Expert Researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency) presented as speakers of this webinar.
In his speech, the Dean of FT Undip, Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D., welcomed and thanked all the committees who organized the 27th Webinar Series. “As the leaders of FT Undip, we convey gratitude and appreciation to the management of Master of Industrial Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering FT Undip for their initiation in continuously holding the webinar series. By holding Webinar Series 27: Research Edge in Industrial Engineering and Management, I have high hopes that we can improve our abilities and competencies.” he said.
The development of sustainable tourism based on an inclusive economy of living natural resources, as well as the sustainable status of natural and cultural tourism in Central Java are hot topics to be raised during the current Covid-19 recovery period. This is in line with the G20 Presidency’s theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” by synergizing recovery efforts with the achievement of the SDGs for Indonesia with the aim of maintaining trade tourism stability and global subligent, impact mitigation, and encouraging development speed.
Dr. Ir. Ratna Purwaningsih, S.T., M., IPU, ASEAN.ENG as the Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering Undip was also present at this 27th Webinar Series discussing the theme “The Status of Sustainability of Natural and Cultural Tourism in Central Java”. In her material, the Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering Undip said that the dimensions of sustainable tourism indicators are in the environmental, economic, and cultural sectors. All three must be balanced in their implementation so that there is a need for institutions to regulate in order for the three of them to run in harmony.
Meanwhile, the sustainability status of various tourist destinations in Central Java uses the Sustainability Index assessment by taking into account 4 important points, namely, Environmental, Economic, Social and Culture, Institutional. Some of the tourist destinations that have been researched using the Sustainability Index are Batu Raden, Celosia Flower Park, Kampung Pelangi Semarang, Borobudur Temple, Gedong Songo Temple.
The next speaker, Dr. Parwa Oryzanti as a Young Expert Researcher at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) presented her material entitled “Study of Sustainable Tourism Development Based on Inclusive Economics of Natural Resources (SDAH)”.
The policy implication of developing inclusive tourism areas based on natural resources and sustainable ecosystems is that environmentally friendly policy or “green” policy changes economic activities by prioritizing innovation and production that has high added value, so that it will encourage environmentally friendly production processes. If we continue to proceed in the old way, the benefits of economic growth will diminish as natural resources will run out quickly, and we will be more vulnerable to climate change or health risks.
“If we want to succeed in alleviating poverty, we cannot rely solely on economic growth, unless it is inclusive and environmentally sustainable. Thus we need to manage natural resources and ecosystems responsibly.” she said. (Afifah – Public Relations).
