Undip Public Relations Held Journalism Training to Improve Writing Skills

The Integrated Services and Public Relations Division of Diponegoro University held a Journalism Training with the theme “Journalism Training in an Effort to Increase Undip’s Ranking in Webometrics Ranking”. The event was held at Noorman Hotel Semarang, last week.

This training aims to dissect the technical intricacies of news writing. The need to write news within the scope of the agency is considered very important to build a positive image of the university.

Journalistic guidelines and training on writing releases were delivered by Septi Wulandari, a reporter for iNews TV. In her material, Septi explained about press releases in general and tips for writing press releases so that the press releases produced by the PR team can be effective and in accordance with the target, namely building a positive image of the university.

“Try to include important and unique news to strengthen the news that is made and the 5W1H elements must be considered,” she said.

Furthermore, Septi said that making a release that is too long is not very effective because it makes readers bored reading it. Effective and ideal writing, the news that is written will reach more audiences and will be uploaded to other media.

With this Journalism Training, it is hoped that it will be able to encourage, equip and increase the writing capacity of the Undip Integrated Services and Public Relations staff. This training will develop the quality of articles written and encourage the improvement of the quality of the university’s reputation in the field of journalism and does not rule out the possibility that other fields will be encouraged to be advanced.
