UNDIP IO: A Talk with Attaché of Education and Culture in Canberra

In order to share information and experiences of representatives from the Attache of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) abroad, the Diponegoro University International Office (IO Undip) held the A Talk with Attaché program. On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:00 WIB, the A Talk with Attaché committee invited Prof. Dr. Muhammad Najib, STP. M.M., Attaché of Education and Culture in Canberra as a speaker. The sharing session which was held online through a Zoom meeting was guided by Mada Sophianingrum from IO FT Undip as the moderator.

Head of Undip IO, Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D. in her remarks said that this event aims to introduce students to life abroad, especially in Australia. International exposure gained from studying abroad will be very useful for self-development.

With his material entitled “Flying Through the Sky of Australia”, Prof. Dr. Mukhamad Najib, STP., M.M. explained the Indonesian diaspora in 2016 showed that most Indonesian citizens in Australia lived in the New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia regions. Meanwhile, the composition of Indonesian students in Australia is 53.8% with undergraduate studies and 43% with vocational studies.

“There are many opportunities to continue studying in Australia with scholarships both from within the country and abroad,” said Prof. Dr. Muhammad Najib. Among them are the Australia Awards Scholarship, Endeavor Postgraduate Leadership Awards, International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS), Australian APEC Women in Research Fellowship, and Destination Australia.

While the scholarships provided by the Indonesian government are LPDP, IISMA, IIVOSMA, Indonesian Education Scholarships, Scholarships from Each Ministry.

Apart from continuing their studies, there are also opportunities to work in Australia because after the pandemic there has been a decrease in the number of workers. Currently there is also a great need for Indonesian language teachers with Teacher Quality Institute certificates. (Titis – Public Relations)
