Mother’s Day commemoration is based on the determination and struggle of women to realize Indonesian independence as declared for the first time at the Indonesian Women’s Congress on December 22, 1928 in Yogyakarta. Officially, December 22 was designated as Mother’s Day after President Soekarno through Presidential Decree Number 316 of 1959 stipulates December 22 is Mother’s Day and is celebrated nationally to this day.
Commemorating Mother’s Day, Diponegoro University held a Mother’s Day commemoration ceremony, Thursday (22/12) at Widya Puraya Field, Undip Tembalang.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. read the official remarks from the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati.
“The commemoration of Mother’s Day, which we always commemorate, is a form of appreciation for the struggles of Indonesian women from time to time. Since the First Women’s Congress in 1928, which became a milestone in the struggle of Indonesian women, Indonesian women have played a very important role in the pace of development in Indonesia. Through the 94th Mother’s Day of 2022, that Indonesian women in the current generation, in all their activities, do not forget the meaning of the struggle of Indonesian women in the past,” he said.
In his remarks Prof. Yos also added that everyone must be an agent of change in advancing Undip for the better.
“Let’s be grateful for the achievements that have been achieved. This is what attracts students to register at Undip. Maintain a conducive environment as well as prioritize integrity and honesty. Efforts are accompanied by prayer and love for others,” he concluded. (Lin/Titis – Public Relations)
