UNDIP Cares for Floods Disaster in Dinar Indah Residence

Flash floods hit the Dinar Indah Meteseh Residence, Semarang City, on Friday (6/1) afternoon. The flooding that occurred in the area was caused by the overflowing Pengkol River waters accompanied by the breakdown of the embankment separating the river from residential areas due to high rainfall. Apart from the Dinar Indah Meteseh Residence, water overflow also occurred in Sendangguwo Village and Rowosari Village.

Rector of Diponegoro University, Prof. Yos Johan Utama gave directions to Prof. Dr. Jamari, S.T., M.T. as Chairman of the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) Undip and Prof. Dr. Rahayu, S.H., M.Hum., as Deputy Chairperson of LPPM to assign all service teams under LPPM. P2KKN Undip provides assistance for victims affected by floods as a swift action in response to the disaster that occurred. Assistance was set to needs and focused on hygiene kits and milk for children.

“P2KKN sends KKN lecturers and students who are members of the thematic KKN program which assists in cleaning up post-flood mud and debris, as well as cleaning the environment and houses of residents affected by the floods. Apart from being a form of social responsibility and concern, through this activity it is hoped that it can help ease the burden on the victims,” said Kurniawan Teguh.

Undip’s response to the flood disaster is a form of Undip’s service to the country through social or humanitarian action and is an implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service.
