Diponegoro University has conducted the Groundbreaking for the Construction of the Diponegoro University Multi-Purpose Building (GSG Undip) on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Prof. Soedarto S.H. Street, Undip Tembalang campus.
The start of the Groundbreaking for the Construction of GSG Undip activities was marked by pressing a button by the Acting Mayor (Plt) of Semarang, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Undip Rector, GSG Undip Development Commitment Making Officers, Director of Operations for Building Sector PT. PP (Persero) Tbk, and representatives of the family of Prof. Dr. H. Muladi, S.H.
Starting his remarks, Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. explained that GSG Undip’s development activities were Undip’s responsibility to provide quality facilities and infrastructure to students.
“Prioritize quality and finish on time, so we can provide services to students in the form of quality facilities and infrastructure.” added Prof. Yos.
Furthermore, Prof. Yos revealed that the GSG Undip was planned to be named Muladi Dome. This is a form of respect for the services that have been provided by Prof. Muladi. “This building will be named Muladi Dome, because he was the one who initiated the steps for Undip to be included in the national and international ranks. So we give this name as a tribute to the services he has provided.” said Prof. Yos.
Apart from providing quality facilities and infrastructure for its students, Undip is also committed to assisting other developments in the Semarang City area. “The following plans are the development of the International Basketball Building and International Badminton Building. Hopefully it will be useful for the civitas academica and be part of our efforts to help the City of Semarang add to existing facilities.” concluded Prof. Yos.
Meanwhile, the Acting Mayor of Semarang, Ir. Hj. Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu, M.Sos. said that the City Government of Semarang will always support Undip by coordinating and synergizing in terms of spatial planning in the Undip area and its surroundings.
“Semarang City Government will always support Diponegoro University, because Diponegoro University is a university that we should be proud of. We are all proud of Diponegoro University for being one of the best universities in Indonesia and even in the world, and this is what we need to support.” she said.
