Undip Civil Engineering Lecturer Participated in a Training Program by KOICA in South Korea regarding Flood Disaster Forecast

Priyo Nugroho P., S.T., M.Eng., Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (FT Undip) participated in the Invitational Training Program organized by KOICA (Korea International Cooperation Agency). This training program focuses on increasing expertise in predicting floods and operating the system cooperatively and functionally in the event of a flood disaster. Priyo Nugroho P., S.T., M.Eng. as representatives of Diponegoro University together with representatives from Brawijaya University, BBWS Citarum, DJ SDA Ministry of PUPR, PJT II, BMKG, SDA Service, PT PJB UP Cirata, PT Indonesia Power participated in the training activity at KICT Building, Seoul, South Korea.

In this training program, participants are given the opportunity to learn more about accurate flood forecasting, early warning systems and efficient operating methods using the latest systems and equipment. It is hoped that this training will be able to support BBWS Citarum and related organizations to secure the operation of the flood control system.

The training sessions consisted of theoretical training and practical training by experts from KICT (Korea Institute of Civil Engineering & Building Technology), Dongbu Engineering, ALLFORLAND, HRFCO (Han River Flood Control Office) and several related parties. The training participants also visited several projects related to flood forecasting in the city of Busan, South Korea.

For his participation, Priyo Nugroho P., S.T., M.Eng. received a Certificate of Participation from Dr. Kwang Seok Yoon who currently serves as Team Leader from KICT.

Head of the Department of Civil Engineering FT Undip, Prof. Jati Utomo Dwi Hatmoko, S.T., M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D welcomed this training activity as a form of capacity building for Undip Civil Engineering lecturers with the aim of increasing the knowledge and competence of the lecturers. “It is hoped that the knowledge from the experience gained during the training can be disseminated to the wider community and the academic community within Undip,” said Prof. Jati.
