UNDIP Prospective Rector Candidates for the 2024-2029 Term of Office Described the Work Program Plan

Four prospective Rector candidates for the Diponegoro University delivered presentations on the Presentation of Work Program Plan by Prospective Undip Rector Candidates for the 2024-2029 term of office. It was held on Thursday (8/6/2023) at the Prof. Sudarto, SH Building, Undip Tembalang campus. The Board of Trustees, Academic Senate, Board of Professors, Vice Rectors, Deans and Deputy Deans of Faculties/Schools, Undip leaders, lecturers, students, education staff, alumni, community leaders, and stakeholders attended the event.

The four prospective Undip Rector Candidates, namely Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. (Faculty of Engineering); Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. (Faculty of Economics and Business); Prof. dr. Muhamad Thohar Arifin, Ph.D., PA., Sp.BS (K). (Faculty of Medicine); and Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos, M.Pol.Admin, Ph.D. (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences).

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Rector Selection Committee, Prof. Ir. Edy Rianto, M.Sc., P.hD., IPU, said that the agenda was a forum for prospective Undip leaders to socialize the vision, mission, and work programs to build Undip for the next leadership period.

In his presentation Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. conveyed thoughts and ideas about Undip towards Go Global and Good Governance, which aims to improve Undip’s performance as a world-class research university, including: (1) Increasing foreign networks; (2) Research and innovation productivity; (3) Governance that is tied to quality assurance, thereby increasing institutional competitiveness and increasing independence.

While Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. conveyed his thoughts and ideas that Undip, with the creed of an excellent research university, must be a solution to the problems of society and the nation, contribute to reducing poverty levels, legal certainty, voicing economic justice and participating in solving other social issues. Apart from that, the campus must be open-minded, at the forefront as the fortress of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, looking for new funding sources and conducting dialogical student development.

As for Prof. dr. Muhamad Thohar Arifin, Ph.D, PA, Sp.BS (K) conveyed his thoughts and ideas regarding the Strengthening and Development of the Higher Education Management System through digitalization-based innovation to create accelerated roles, functions, and contributions to the country and competition at the world level in the industrial era 4.0 and welcoming the generation of society 5.0. In addition, the current university leadership needs to adopt a new order to become a superior university capable of analyzing many digital initiatives and managing the acceleration of the innovation cycle.

Meanwhile, Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos, M.Pol.Admin, Ph.D., conveyed Undip’s thoughts and ideas as a world-class Incorporate University. In addition, Undip’s vision is to become a world-class religious nationalist university that is tolerant and transformative through continuous creativity and innovation in education, research, community service, and entrepreneurship. The university is a system that coordinates the educational process; financial management; research and innovation; graduates’ career system; public/community services; alumni, private, government & international collaboration, business, and RGU.
