UNDIP Held Socialization of Cyber Security

The Communication and Business Bureau of Diponegoro University held the 2023 Socialization of Cyber Security, Tuesday (13/6) at the Prof. Soedarto Building, S.H. Undip Tembalang.

The socialization was held considering the current digital era’s conditions; cyber-attacks increasingly threaten individuals, companies, and organizations worldwide. Therefore cybersecurity is needed to protect systems, networks, devices, and data from attacks or unauthorized access. Cyberattacks can come from various sources, such as hackers, which can cause serious damage if not dealt with quickly and effectively.

Cyberattacks can damage reputations, cause financial loss, and even threaten national security, so it is crucial to understand cybersecurity.

In his remarks, Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D. as the Vice Rector for Communication and Business, said that cyber security is essential, the more data stored on the internet and the wider use of technology means the higher the risk of cyber security.

“Cybersecurity is an effort to protect data and systems from cyberattacks. We will be doomed if we do not know. Therefore, we must learn about cybersecurity from our sources. The condition of the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed all activities to be carried out online with a digital system. The development of information systems is swift, but we have not thought about security, data protection, and cyber security. It is a shared responsibility to ensure that data and systems remain safe and protected,” said Prof. Budi.

Present as resource persons in this socialization were AKP A. Endro Prabowo (Panir Subdit Siber Ditreskrimsus Polda Jateng) and Muhammad Ismu Hadi, S.ST. (Sandiman Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara).

Endro Prabowo said that the increasing use of the internet has the risk of an increasingly massive threat of hacking. Thus we must always be vigilant and remain careful, never reveal confidential information via email, text message chat, in person, or by phone to unknown parties, and do not be easily tempted by sites or emails that promise something.

“Some actions you can take to defend against application attacks include fighting application attacks by writing solid code, keeping all software up to date, including the operating system and applications, and never ignoring update requests. Remember that not all programs are updated automatically,” Endro Prabowo said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Ismu Hadi explained that a data breach is an event that deliberately discloses sensitive data/information due to cyber attacks. Meanwhile, a data leak is a condition of unintentional or intentional disclosure of data/information, either in transit or at rest. (LW/Titis-Public Relations)
