Every year and semester, the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (Webometrics) ranking agency announces university rankings worldwide. The Webometrics ranking is based on assessing the impact of website content and research publications at each tertiary institution. This method is carried out to see website content that is considered helpful in disseminating access to knowledge produced by tertiary institutions.
In the July 2023 Webometrics ranking list, published on the website https://www.webometrics.info/en/asia/indonesia%20, Undip is ranked 8th in Indonesia and 1156th worldwide. This rating has increased from January 2023, which placed Undip in 21st place in Indonesia.
Vice Rector for Communication and Business, Prof. Budi Setiyono, expressed his joy at Undip’s return to the top 10 universities according to Webometrics. Prof. Budi said this could not be separated from the entire Undip community’s efforts.
“Last year, we were knocked out of the top 10 due to the use of multiple Google Scholar accounts by several lecturers and students, so we were disqualified from assessing the openness aspect,” said Budi. “But now, the error has been corrected,” he said.
Prof. Budi hopes that these achievements will be even better in the future. “It is hoped that the Undip website will increasingly become a reference for many people to access information and knowledge. Besides that, citations to research and lecturer publications are expected to increase in frequency,” concluded Prof. Budi Setiyono.
