Advanced Study in the Circular Economy Field with RWTH Aachen Germany

Diponegoro University (Undip) is increasingly establishing itself as an excellent research university. The commitment was marked by the election of Undip together with two other leading campuses in Indonesia, namely ITB and UGM, to establish an educational program organized by the Directorate General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH) Aachen, Germany.

On Thursday, December 14, 2023, the Directorate General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and RWTH Aachen agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the sending of 15 (fifteen) lecturers from the 3 (three) State Universities (PTN) to take the Doctoral Program in Circular Economy at RWTH Aachen, Germany.

This collaboration was initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Berlin. Indonesian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Arief Havas Oegroseno, and the Chancellor of RWTH Aachen, Prof. Ulrich Rüdiger, were also present at the signing, along with Prof. Dr. Ardi Marwan as Attache of Education and Culture at the Indonesian Embassy in Berlin, as well as representatives from three Indonesian state universities, the Directorate General of Diktristek Kemendikbudristek, the Indonesian Embassy Team in Berlin and also the Indonesian Consulate General Team in Frankfurt. The Undip delegation who attended the signing was Prof. Faisal, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D.; Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D.; and Prof. Dr. Paramita Prananingtyas, S.H., LLM.

RWTH Aachen is committed to supporting the progress of the circular economy sector in Indonesia through the Center for Circular Economy (CCE), which will also be the study center that houses the collaboration with the doctoral study program, especially in the field of circularity in electronics. CCE is planned to be established at ITB, with the Country Coordinator being UNDIP.

The program, which will start in 2024, is expected to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Germany in the circular economy so that innovative new ideas and collaboration related to the circular economy will be born for the progress of the two countries. (Public Relations-AS)
