As a form of Diponegoro University’s (Undip) commitment to providing the best service in the educational process with the high hope of producing competent dentists, the initiation of the RSGM (Dental and Oral Hospital) began with the establishment of the RSGM Pilot Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine. The laboratory is located on Jl. Prof. Moeljono S. Trastotenojo was inaugurated directly on Friday (5/01) by Undip Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. and attended by university leaders.
The Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) is an essential element in the Dentist professional education series. More than that, RSGM is one of the requirements set by the Indonesian Medical Council in establishing the Dentistry study program and the Dentist profession program. Starting from these requirements, the establishment of RSGM was initiated.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Dwi Pudjonarko, M.Kes., Sp.S(K), the presence of the RSGM Pilot Laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine allows students to learn in actual conditions in a hospital in providing services to patients. This pioneering laboratory is also the forerunner of what will later be developed further into the Diponegoro University Dental and Oral Hospital.
“Even though this laboratory is still a pilot project, we have prepared well for its presence as the Diponegoro University Dental and Oral Hospital,” said Prof. Dwi Pudjonarko.
This pilot laboratory has advantages, including having the complete negative pressure system in Semarang in accordance with national standards; using a HEPA Filter and there are 20 dental units; having a dental unit with the best current specifications for the implementation of dental professional education; having complete dental radiology; having four operating rooms with national standards for carrying out wisdom teeth surgery; and having met the standards of a pioneering dental and oral laboratory with a total of 75 dental units.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. hopes that this pilot laboratory will not only become the best laboratory at the national level but will also become the best laboratory in ASEAN and will then become the Dental and Oral Hospital of Diponegoro University.
“In principle, efforts are being made to realize RSGM. In 2025, we entrust it to the Elected Rector that we seriously intend to build RSGM. We were prepared with a clear plan in its entirety. In the next 5 years, RSGM can develop into an ASEAN class,” concluded the Undip Rector. (Sudanta-Public Relations)
