The momentum of the inauguration of the Pilar Cendekia by the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., marks the beginning of the series of proceedings for the inauguration of the Honorary Professorship (Honoris Causa) upon Dr. H. Yulius, S.H., M.H., who currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Administrative Affairs of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia. This event took place in front of the Student Center building, located on the main road, Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo, M.Sc. Street, on the Tembalang campus of UNDIP, on Saturday (20/4).
The Honorary Professorship (Honoris Causa) bestowed upon Prof. Dr. H. Yulius, S.H., M.H., by Diponegoro University is a testament to his profound expertise in Administrative Law and Administrative Judicial Procedure Law. His significant contributions to the enforcement of law in Indonesia are widely recognized, making this inauguration a moment of great significance.
In his address, the Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., explained that the Pilar Cendekia serves as a form of recognition for the individuals of Diponegoro University and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia who are appointed as professors at UNDIP. “The inauguration also serves as a powerful motivator for UNDIP lecturers to pursue their doctoral studies and aspire to become professors. This event is not only a mark of honor but also a tribute to the services and contributions of these esteemed individuals, aligning with the university’s commitment to elevating dignity to the highest level through the title of professor, as a Javanese saying mikul duwur mendem jero.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. H. Yulius, S.H., M.H., mentioned that personally, the symbol of the pillar firmly planted without any shake represents a heavy burden of trust. “I have to take care of another one. Before, my burden was to maintain the good name of the Supreme Court and its hierarchy, as well as the lower ranks. Now, I have been entrusted with an additional responsibility, which is to take care of the alma mater, the academic community of Diponegoro University, which is larger and has more people. Thus, I can maintain my integrity as a parent and colleague,” said Prof. Yulius.
“Hopefully, in the future, the entrusted responsibility placed upon my shoulders will guide me towards better behavior in carrying out my duties and responsibilities as a judge, and of course, I cannot refuse the role of a lecturer at UNDIP. Hopefully, everything will go well,” added Prof. Yulius.
Prof. Yulius also expressed his highest gratitude to Diponegoro University. “This Pillar of Honor is the most beautiful gift and blessing, namely being awarded the honorary professor title as Prof. Yos’s term as Rector of UNDIP comes to an end,” concluded Prof. Yulius in his closing remarks.
