Semarang, August 29, 2024—The Department of Electrical Engineering at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing science and technology by hosting the 11th International Conference on Information Technology, Computer, and Electrical Engineering (ICITACEE). The conference took place on August 29, 2024, at Hotel Ciputra, Semarang.
Prof. Jamari, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UNDIP, officially opened this prestigious event. In his opening remarks, Prof. Jamari emphasized the importance of international collaboration in addressing global challenges in an era of rapidly evolving technology. Prof. Jamari also highlighted UNDIP’s role as one of Indonesia’s leading universities, continually striving to achieve its vision of becoming a World-Class University through international scientific activities like ICITACEE.
Under the theme “Artificial Intelligence for a Better Future Life Environment,” ICITACEE 2024 featured several keynote speakers from renowned domestic and international universities and institutions.
Prof. Nooritawati Md Tahir from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, presented a talk titled “AI-Driven in Gait Analysis – Opportunities and Challenges.” In her presentation, Prof. Nooritawati discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to analyze human gait, which is crucial in diagnosing and monitoring various medical conditions. She also addressed the challenges in implementing this technology, including data issues, result interpretation, and adapting the technology for different populations.
Ir. Hery Isnanto, CEO of PT. Yamakubi Engineering Service delivered a topic on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Military Decision-Making Training.” This presentation highlighted the use of AI in military decision-making training, where AI can simulate complex battlefield scenarios and assist military commanders in making quick and accurate decisions. Ir. Hery also outlined how AI can identify patterns and scenarios that might be overlooked by humans, thus enhancing the effectiveness of military training.
Prof. Adian Fatchur Rochim from Diponegoro University provided a comprehensive overview of research developments in the fields of electrical engineering and computer science in Indonesia. He mapped out the most prominent research areas, established international collaborations, and discussed the opportunities and challenges faced by Indonesian researchers in these fields.
In an online session, Dr. Awais Mahmood from King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in the healthcare industry’s revolution, from automatic diagnosis to personalized care. However, he also raised various issues and challenges, including ethical concerns, patient data privacy, and reliance on technology. Dr. Awais stressed the importance of collaboration among researchers, medical professionals, and policymakers to overcome these challenges.
The conference was organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, with full support from various national and international institutions, including the IEEE Indonesian Section. ICITACEE 2024 also involved partner universities from multiple countries.
During the conference, participants, including researchers, academics, and professionals from various disciplines, had the opportunity to attend multiple presentation sessions, panel discussions, and networking events. Additionally, they were invited to enjoy the beauty and cultural richness of Semarang, making this event not only an exchange of knowledge but also a valuable cultural experience.
In closing, Dr. Wahyudi, the conference chair, expressed that ICITACEE 2024 could encourage more research and innovation to address global challenges, as well as strengthen UNDIP’s position in the international academic arena. This event is expected to be a catalyst for further collaboration between academia, industry, and government in a joint effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
