UNDIP deployed its students for the 2023/2024 Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN) Team II. One of the areas targeted for the deployment of UNDIP Community Service Team II students was Pekalongan Regency, Central Java. A number of students were distributed to various villages in several districts, namely Buaran District, Kedungwuni District, Siwalan District, Tirto District, Wiradesa District, Wonokerto District, and Sragi District.
On August 15, 2024, the UNDIP Community Service Team II 2023/2024 students in Pekalongan Regency held a Community Service Exhibition event with the theme “Urip Iku Urup.” During this exhibition, the Community Service students displayed outstanding products from Pekalongan Regency that were developed based on the potential of the areas where they served. The exhibition was held at the Siwalan District Office.
The Community Service Exhibition was attended by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of the Vocational School, Dr. Ida Hayu Dwimawanti, MM.; the Lecturer Coordinator for Pekalongan Regency, drh. In her speech, the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of the Vocational School praised the theme chosen by the Community Service students for the exhibition. The theme aligned with the new tagline currently used by UNDIP. “The theme of the showcase, ‘Urip Iku Urup,’ aligns with UNDIP’s tagline, ‘UNDIP Bermanfaat, UNDIP Bermartabat, UNDIP Jaya.’ The vision of this tagline will be implemented through academic and student activities. Community Service is UNDIP’s effort, through its students, to demonstrate that the university can participate, contribute, and provide benefits to society, especially in Pekalongan Regency,” explained the Vice Dean.
Various products were showcased at the event. In addition to culinary innovations, several technological breakthroughs created by the Community Service students utilized the potential of the villages where they served. Some of the culinary innovations exhibited included tofu waste crackers, mango sponge cake, tilapia fish nuggets, banana cakes, smoked fish optimization, and more. As for the technological innovations, they included household waste processing into organic fertilizer, citronella-based mosquito repellent lotion, automatic trash bins, rice husk briquette production, and others.
Hopefully, the innovations made by the UNDIP Community Service Team II students will continue in the future within the community.
