UNDIP, Semarang (19/10) – Approximately 10,000 participants gathered at the Muladi Dome on UNDIP Tembalang Campus to take part in a Fun Walk event celebrating the 67th Anniversary of Universitas Diponegoro. The event was themed “UNDIP Moves for a Healthy Campus: A Real Contribution to Achieving Sustainable Development Goals.”
The Fun Walk served as the grand finale, marking the end of the UNDIP’s 67th Anniversary celebration series. UNDIP’s Rector and his team released 67 doves in unison, symbolizing the current age of the university. The event was attended by the UNDIP extended family, including the academic community, alumni, stakeholders, partners, and even the general public. It was a lively and joyful gathering event.
The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed his deep appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by everyone involved, especially the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), who organized the Fun Walk.
This event reflects the spirit of harmony (a sense of belonging) towards UNDIP. It aims to maintain a harmonious, united atmosphere, nurturing a sense of brotherhood that benefits UNDIP and highlights the university’s commitment to the Central Java community.
“Last week, in this very place, we opened the UNDIP’s 67th Anniversary series with the opening ceremony, an anti-gratification integrity pledge, and numerous other events. Today, Alhamdulillah, thousands of UNDIP family members joined in. I believe this marks a joyful occasion for the entire UNDIP family to celebrate our 67th Anniversary,” Prof. Suharnomo said during a doorstop interview with journalists.
He also noted that several community service activities will continue until the end of October 2024, such as water provision programs in some regencies such as Demak, Jepara, Blora, and other areas, along with stunting prevention programs, flying latrine construction, and desalination machine installations.
“I hope this is a good beginning. In my three months as UNDIP’s leader, everyone has shown enthusiasm in participating and embracing UNDIP, which is a very positive foundation for the university’s future,” the Rector expressed during his remarks.
“Stay united and harmonious, and may this be the beginning of UNDIP’s journey to becoming even more dignified and impactful,” added Prof. Suharnomo.
Previously, the 67th Anniversary celebration began with a group exercise session, tree planting, and an anti-gratification commitment signing, followed by UNDIP Bersholawat, an Anniversary Ceremony & Scientific Oration by Prof. Rhenald Kasali, Ph.D., a Carnival and Chant Competition, UNDIP Run 2024, Band Competition, and finally, the Fun Walk.
The Fun Walk participants were excited to tackle a challenging route with slopes and hills, starting from Muladi Dome, passing the UPT K3L building, the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) building, and the Vocational School (SV), before returning to Muladi Dome.
The event was further enlivened with a raffle offering various attractive door prizes, including five motorbikes, electric bikes, mountain bikes, refrigerators, LED TVs, fans, and other exciting prizes for the lucky participants. (DHW & LW – Public Relations) ***
