Denik, UNDIP Vocational School Graduate: Basketball and Academics

UNDIP – Semarang (November 8, 2024). Denik Puput Wijayanti was one of the graduates at the 176th graduation ceremony held at the Muladi Dome, Multipurpose Building (GSG) of UNDIP, Tembalang Campus. Diponegoro University conducted its 176th graduation ceremony from November 4 to 7, 2024. A total of 3,826 graduates participated in the ceremony, with 2,476 of them, or 64.72%, graduating with honors (Cum Laude).

Denik Puput Wijayanti was one of the graduates who earned the cum laude predicate. She was admitted to Universitas Diponegoro in 2020 through the Vocational PSSB pathway, majoring in D4 Logistics Management and Administration. She completed her studies in 9 semesters or approximately 3 years and 11 months, achieving a GPA of 3.90.

During her studies, she was active in HMMAL (Logistics Management and Administration Student Association) within the KMI division. Additionally, she worked as an administrator at Temarasa Coffee and Garden.

Studying at Universitas Diponegoro was a valuable experience. “During my studies, I met lecturers who were incredibly remarkable, and there were practitioner lecturers who had achieved success in the logistics field even at the ASEAN level but were generous in sharing their knowledge and remained humble,” she said.

She shared that since middle school, she has been involved in sports, especially basketball, and won several championships at the district and provincial levels, such as 3rd Place in Girls’ Basketball in the POR Student Championship in Bojonegoro District in 2018, 2nd Place Girls’ Basketball in the Semen Indonesia Basketball Championship (SIBC) in 2018; 1st Place Girls’ Basketball in the POR Student Championship in Bojonegoro District in 2019. She also excelled in other sports like handball, winning Third Place in the Girls’ Handball at the JATIM Provincial Sports Week (PORPROV) in 2022. Other achievements include First Runner-Up in Storytelling at the Bojonegoro District level in 2016.

Before competitions, a lot of preparation was necessary, including physical, mental, and health readiness. Typically, six months before a competition, physical training and many sparring matches with other regional basketball teams were conducted to build mental readiness. A special training camp for regular practice and nutrition improvement was set up for less than three months. While regular practice was three times a week, during the training camp, it increased to 5 to 6 times a week with two rest days or light exercises. The exhaustion from training was rewarded with happiness when winning.

To her fellow young generation, she advised reducing time spent scrolling on TikTok/social media or overusing gadgets. “Try to discover hidden talents within yourselves, explore new things with new people to expand your network. Be diligent in your studies and seek out beneficial activities and experiences,” said Denik. (Ut & DHW-Media Relations)
