Semarang – Syaikha Butsaina Dhiya’ulhaq, the best graduate of the Bachelor of Applied Science (D4) in Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (TRKI) at the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro, has an impressive list of achievements. Syaikha graduated with cum laude honors and a GPA of 3.81 after completing her studies in 3 years, 11 months, and 1 day. She shared the joyful moment with her parents and beloved family during UNDIP’s 176th Graduation Ceremony at the Muladi Dome, Multipurpose Building (GSG) at UNDIP, Tembalang Campus, on Monday (November 4, 2024).
Syaikha expressed her happiness and gratitude for studying at UNDIP Vocational School due to the opportunities and facilities she received. “I am happy and grateful to have studied at the Vocational School because the opportunities and facilities provided during the D4 TRKI program offered many growth opportunities, starting from conducive teaching and learning activities with interactive and open lecturers for discussions to the opportunity to participate in various competitions guided by competent lecturers,” she said.
She also mentioned that all this was supported by the learning system in the TRKI program, which prepares skilled and competent human resources through the revitalization of vocational higher education. “Class material is quite applicable to the industrial world, lab facilities and practicum that support students in conducting experiments and applied research, and the faculty’s support for students to participate in various activities such as international conferences, internships, student exchanges, competitions, community service, and even research with lecturers,” Syaikha continued.
Syaikha has earned 16 certificates, including Awareness ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Internal Auditor ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), HIRADC, and other certifications. As a UNDIP graduate, she is expected to be a qualified job seeker equipped with achievements in research and competencies, and she secured employment quickly. “Alhamdulillah, I am currently working at PT. Ungaran Sari Garments (Busana Apparel Group, Ungaran Production Unit) as a trainee quality control supervisor. I joined the company on October 7, 2024, and received my acceptance confirmation on September 27, 2024. It took 1.5 months to receive job selection confirmation after graduating (I graduated on August 15, 2024),” she said.
Previously, Syaikha did not expect to receive offers from four companies at once in September. These companies included Busana Apparel Group (Semarang Production Unit) for the position of Quality Control (QC) Supervisor, PT. Friesland Kievit Indonesia for the Management Trainee (MT) position, PT. Vitapharm for the Quality Control (QC) position, and PT. Smoore Technology Indonesia for the Management Trainee (MT) position. “In addition, there were several tests in other companies where I passed up to the interview stage. There were three companies for the MT position with contracts of 6-12 months, namely PT Smoore Technology Indonesia and PT Friesland Kievit Indonesia, as well as the Environmental Staff position at PT Viva Cosmetic. However, since I had already received confirmation from one company, I did not continue the process at other companies,” Syaikha explained.
Syaikha’s latest achievement in research competitions was winning the Social & Technology Innovation Challenge (SoTech) 2024, organized by PT Pertamina Refinery Unit 3 Plaju, Palembang, South Sumatra. “Alhamdulillah, my team and I won First Place among 181 participating teams. Other achievements include a Gold Medal in the National Paper Competition held by the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Universitas Brawijaya (2020); a Silver Medal in the National Poster Competition by the Faculty of Agricultural Technology at Universitas Brawijaya (2020); Second Place in the Vocational Competition held by BEM SV UNDIP (2021); winning PKM GFT funding (2022) from the Ministry of Education and Culture; passing P2MD funding (2022) from the Ministry of Education and Culture; and PKM GFT funding (2023) from the Ministry of Education and Culture,” Syaikha elaborated.
Syaikha emphasized that she always set targets and dreams to achieve by striving to realize them and being open to new opportunities, even those beyond her imagination. These opportunities often required stepping out of her comfort zone or taking chances that seemed small. “I am open to all those things because I believe that big things start from small steps, and we never know which opportunity will lead us to achieve our goals,” she stated.
“Step out of your comfort zone. Take advantage of your time as a student to try new things. Be proactive in exploring all opportunities. Try participating in all activities, from internal/external campus organizations, scientific competitions, business student units, debates, community service, student exchanges, national/international conferences, research with lecturers, and so on, while still fulfilling student obligations (studying, attending classes, avoiding absences, and striving to keep grades above standard),” advised Syaikha.
She also shared that her success was always supported by involving God and her parents’ prayers at every step. “Allah is the best planner. If a door closes for you, another will open and bring better opportunities. Lastly, respect your lecturers, academic staff, and parents at home. Ask for their prayers to bless your success and maintain good relationships with God through worship and with fellow human beings,” she concluded. (DHW)
