Commemorating World Prematurity Day, RSND Holds Seminar Titled “Small Action, Big Impact”

World Premature Day, observed annually on November 17, aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by premature babies and their families. In commemoration of this day, Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) organized a seminar titled “Small Action, Big Impact: Immediate Skin-to-Skin Care for Every Baby Everywhere.” The event took place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Selasar ICU, PICU-NICU, and IBS Room on the 2nd floor of Building B, RSND.

The seminar was attended by healthcare professionals from primary healthcare facilities that refer patients to RSND. Its objective was to enhance awareness among medical staff about managing premature babies, reducing mortality rates, supporting families, and advancing health research and innovations related to prematurity.

“Saving premature babies is not just about preserving their lives but also their futures,” emphasized Dr. dr. Sutopo Patria Jati, M.M., M.Kes., RSND’s Director, in his opening speech. He highlighted the importance of caring for premature infants as not only a matter of individual survival but also a step toward securing the nation’s future.

The seminar featured three engaging presentations by experts in the field. The first presentation about the Guidance for Premature Baby Development in the First 1,000 Days of Life was delivered by dr. Adhie Nur Radityo, M.Si.Med, Sp.A(K). It was continued with the material on Congenital Abnormalities to Watch for in Premature Babies by Dr. Agung Aji, Sp.BA. The third speaker was dr. Nurul Setiyorini, Sp.OG who presented Early Detection of Pregnancy Complications.

In addition to these informative sessions, a video was shown showcasing the PICU-NICU facilities, the medical team, and the procedures used to care for premature infants at RSND. The event also included testimonials from two parents of premature babies who shared their positive experiences with the services provided by RSND.

Happy World Premature Day! May this “Small Action, Big Impact” seminar serve as a significant step toward raising awareness about the importance of proper care for premature babies and inspire continued efforts to improve their outcomes and futures.
