Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) achieved a proud milestone at the 2024 TVRI Jawa Barat Short Film Festival. The film “Patriot Tanpa Suara” (Silent Patriot) won second place in the category of Best Patriotism Short Film. The work captivated the judges with its profound message on patriotism and nationalism, the central theme of the festival.
“Patriot Tanpa Suara” highlights the spirit of patriotism nurtured through simple actions in daily life. The film tells a relatable story of a sanitation worker dedicating their service to Indonesia in ways many might overlook. Through a straightforward storyline, the film delivers a powerful message about the small contributions individuals can make to show their love for the nation.
This film was a collaborative effort by UNDIP TV, the Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND), the Faculty of Humanities (FIB), the Faculty of Public Health (FKM), and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM) at Universitas Diponegoro. The synergy among these units and faculties underscores the importance of collaboration in creating quality works for public appreciation. Out of 357 films submitted to the festival, “Patriot Tanpa Suara” made it to the top six and secured second place.
The film’s creators included Aura Angellica Risqullah (FIB), Jarwanto, Fatimah Noor Janah (RECTORATE), Muhammad Rizki Fadhlurrohman, Azaki Fathoni Hantoro (FSM), Febri Yoga Perdana (RSND), Sami’an, Priyo Handoko, Hafid Amri, Hasna Rufaidah, Naila Safira, Irgy Yusufi Daryawan (FKM), and UNDIP TV. The filmmaking process showcased how UNDIP students’ innovation and collaboration can positively impact society through audio-visual art.
The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, S.S., M.Hum., expressed his hopes for future collaborations. “This work is significant as it inspires young generations to love their nation in their unique roles and contributions. The collaboration between various faculties and institutions at UNDIP reflects the spirit of unity that moves us forward together. In the future, we must collaborate more often to advance UNDIP, making it increasingly impactful and dignified,” he said.
The film’s production process was rapid, with pre-production taking about one week, one day of shooting, and three days for post-production. “I am proud to have collaborated with amazing individuals from various faculties, each with unique characters and interests but united by a shared vision: to convey emotions to the audience through an engaging story. Despite the short preparation time, we managed to complete this film,” said Hasna Rufaidah, a Public Health student and producer of “Patriot Tanpa Suara.”
UNDIP TV plays a vital role in the university’s internal media under the Directorate of Media Networks, Community, and Public Communication. Dr. Nurul Hasfi, M.A., its director, expressed her pride in UNDIP TV’s and UNDIP students’ achievements. “The success of ‘Patriot Tanpa Suara’ is tangible proof that the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and dedication among students and units at UNDIP can produce quality works with a positive impact,” she said. This achievement is expected to motivate other UNDIP students to continue creating and innovating in various fields.
