The Diponegoro Basketball Festival (DBF) 2024 marked the first-ever basketball event to compete for the Rector’s Cup of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP). The event welcomed 38 of the best basketball teams from high schools in Jawa Tengah and state universities across Indonesia, all competing for the championship title and exciting prizes.
Held from April 16 to 27, 2024, the event took place at the Prof. Dr. dr. Susilo Wibowo, M.S.Med., Sp. And(K) Basketball Sports Hall. Its primary aim was to promote basketball among the younger generation and foster relationships between schools and universities. The event was made possible through the generous support of various sponsors, with Bank BTN serving as one of the main sponsors.
The final day of the tournament featured thrilling matches, including the third-place and championship games for two categories: the High School Division Two Finals and the third-place and championship games for the State University category. Universitas Brawijaya claimed victory in both the men’s and women’s State University categories, defeating the host team, UNDIP.
The tournament also showcased captivating performances by student organizations from Universitas Diponegoro, such as the UNDIP Band, Economic Voice 10′, UNDIP Orchestra, and Tari Saman RJU.
The event was more than just a competition; it served as a platform to recognize and celebrate the athletic talents within universities and high schools. With high enthusiasm from all participants and stakeholders, the event was a resounding success and is expected to become a cherished tradition in the future.
Prof. Hanifa Maher Denny, S.KM., MPH., Ph.D., Director of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni at UNDIP stated that the Diponegoro Basketball Festival aims to provide a stage for the best basketball athletes from high schools in Jawa Tengah and state universities across Indonesia to compete at the highest championship level. UNDIP’s Basketball Student Activity Unit passionately delivered a competitive national-level basketball championship, highlighting UNDIP’s reputation as an innovator in the basketball scene of Jawa Tengah and Indonesia.
The Diponegoro Basketball Festival is not just an ordinary championship; it is designed as a Sports Festival and is projected to become an annual event. The Prof. Dr. dr. Susilo Wibowo, M.S.Med., Sp.
