UNDIP and Konkuk University, South Korea, Strengthen Global Connectivity Towards a World-Class University

UNDIP, Semarang (February 19) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to enhance its global connections by establishing strategic collaborations with international universities. In its ongoing efforts to expand its international network, UNDIP aims to boost its worldwide recognition and academic contributions.

One concrete step in this initiative is the visit of Dr. Robetmi Jumpakita Pinem, S.AB, MBA, a lecturer from the Business Administration Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at UNDIP, who recently completed his Ph.D. in South Korea. He was invited to hold discussions with the leadership of Konkuk University, South Korea, to explore potential academic collaborations between the two institutions.

During the meeting, Dr. Robetmi presented UNDIP’s profile to the President and officials of Konkuk University, highlighting UNDIP’s growth as a globally recognized university that continues to innovate. He emphasized UNDIP’s diverse international programs across various faculties and its rising position in global rankings, including the QS World University Rankings, UI GreenMetric, and EduRank.

UNDIP’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Public Communication, Wijayanto, Ph.D, emphasized that the collaboration with Konkuk University is a strategic move to strengthen UNDIP’s global connectivity.

“Noble and Valuable UNDIP is not just a slogan but a principle we uphold in every international collaboration. Partnering with leading universities like Konkuk University opens more opportunities for students, lecturers, and researchers to contribute to global academia and make a real impact on society,” he stated.

As part of its goal of becoming a World-Class University, UNDIP offers numerous flagship programs that enable faculty members and staff to collaborate with academics from around the world.

Dr. Robetmi stressed the importance of immediately implementing collaboration through various academic programs. Several professors from Konkuk University have already been invited as speakers in UNDIP’s World-Class University (WCU) programs and as peers in international ranking assessments.

“As a lecturer in the Business Administration Program at FISIP UNDIP, I am pleased to contribute to the progress of our Department, Faculty, and University. I hope this step will help UNDIP achieve a Top 500 world ranking and FISIP reach the Top 400 globally,” he added.

The President of Konkuk University welcomed this collaboration and expressed hope that it would progress smoothly, not only in the academic sphere but also in strengthening strategic ties between Indonesia and South Korea.

The proposed collaboration between UNDIP and Konkuk University includes:

  2. Undergraduate and graduate student exchange programs
  3. Joint supervision of Master’s and Ph.D. students
  4. Exchange of academic information and materials
  5. Exchange of periodicals and scientific publications
  6. Organization of joint research programs
