UNDIP Rector Inaugurates 2025 Student Organization Leaders: Leadership is Action, Not Just a Position

UNDIP, Semarang (February 16) – The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., officially inaugurated the 2025 leadership boards of the Student Senate, Student Executive Board, and Student Activity Units at Universitas Diponegoro. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Prof. Sudarto, S.H. Building, UNDIP Campus, Tembalang, on Friday, February 14, 2025.

In his speech, the UNDIP Rector expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the students who committed to serving as functionaries of the Student Executive Board, the Student Senate, and Student Activity Units at the university level as part of the nation’s leadership regeneration. He emphasized the vital role of student organizations in shaping leadership character, creativity, and student contributions to the campus and society.

“Student organizations serve as a platform for students to develop their potential, build networks, and become agents of change for the nation. I hope that the newly inaugurated leaders will carry out their duties with full responsibility and a spirit of unity,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

He further highlighted the importance of maintaining passion and the spirit to be champions. Small victories demonstrate that UNDIP has the potential to be number one by awakening the “giant inside” adrenaline, much like the success of the Antawirya Team, which won first place at the Shell EcEco-Marathonsia Pacific & Middle East 2025 in Qatar.

“Becoming a champion and being the best is possible. UNDIP has a winning genetic identity—very few universities are named after a heroic, religious, and courageous figure,” he emphasized.

At the end of his speech, Prof. Suharnomo urged student activists to be trustworthy leaders and exemplary role models. He emphasized that “leadership is action, not just a position” and encouraged them to demonstrate their leadership capacity as the best leaders. He also stressed the need to shift perspectives when transitioning from an individual role to leading a team, underlining that action speaks louder than words. “May words and actions align, and may intellectual intelligence be paired with noble character, as these are the keys to future success,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the President of the UNDIP Student Executive Board, Aufa Atha Ariq Aoraqi, stated that the purpose of student organizations is to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. He called for collaboration among the academic community to realize UNDIP’s vision of being “Noble and Valuable UNDIP.”

This inauguration marks the beginning of a new leadership period for UNDIP’s student organizations, which will drive various academic and non-academic programs and enhance student contributions to community service.

The event was attended by university leaders, faculty deans, student organization advisors, and student representatives. The ceremony proceeded solemnly with the recitation of the organizational oath and the signing of the inauguration minutes.

With the formation of the new leadership, it is expected that UNDIP’s student organizations will continue to progress and serve as strategic partners in achieving the university’s vision as a leading higher education institution in Indonesia. (DHW)
