UNDIP, Semarang (March 5) – In an effort to strengthen faith, devotion, and good deeds during the holy month of Ramadan 1446 H, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), in collaboration with Badan Amalan Islam (BAI) Jawa Tengah, held a joint Tarawih prayers event on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Imam Barjo Auditorium, UNDIP Pleburan Campus.
UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who served as the Shohibul Bait (host) of the event, expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the joint Tarawih prayers.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to BAI Jawa Tengah for the collaboration between institutions that made this event possible. This activity is part of the spirit of welcoming the month of Ramadan with joy and togetherness. Happy worship in the month of Ramadan. May we all always be given blessings,” he said.
The event featured two religious scholars, Dr. H. Multazam Ahmad, M.Ag, who led the Tarawih prayer, and Dr. H. M. In’amuzahiddin, M.Ag, who delivered the Islamic sermon. The program began with the Isha prayer, followed by 8 raka’ats of the Tarawih prayer and 3 raka’ats of the Witr prayer. Before the sermon, H. Ahmad Syaikhu recited the Tilawatil Qur’an.
In his sermon, Dr. H. M. In’amuzahiddin, M.Ag., spoke on the topic “The Meaning and Wisdom of Fasting.” He emphasized that fasting is not just about abstaining from food and drink, as one would in a diet or medical preparation, but a sacred act of worship with spiritual and physical benefits. He cited a hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “Temptations surround Hell, while hardships surround Paradise.”
In addition, fasting during Ramadan is also an opportunity to increase worship, such as dhikr and reciting the Qur’an. These activities can have a positive impact on the body, such as making unproductive cells active again so that it can strengthen devotion in worship. During fasting, there is also a detoxification process or the removal of toxins from the body.
Fasting also teaches us to share with others, either through zakat, alms, or giving food to others. Thus, fasting not only educates the soul to be more patient and sincere but also becomes a means to improve physical health and strengthen social relationships in society.
