Exploring the Field of Aeronautics and Astronautics, UNDIP is Ready to Synergize with Beihang University

Beijing, China (April 30, 2025) – As part of its vision to become a World-Class University and to improve the quality of education, research, and international reputation, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continued its series of strategic visits to China by engaging with leading institutions in Shanghai, Beijing, and Tianjin from April 28 to 30, 2025.

The UNDIP delegation was led by Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., alongside Chair of the Board of Trustees Prof. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D. The task force team included Wijayanto, Ph.D. (Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration and Public Communication), Prof. Ir. Agus Indarjo, M.Phil. (Secretary of the Board of Trustees), Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H. (Deputy Director of Global Partnerships and Connectivity), and Abdul Rohman, S.Hum. (Manager of the Directorate of Reputation, Partnerships, and Global Connectivity).

Following their visit to Shanghai, the delegation traveled to Beijing on April 28 to meet with Beihang University, one of China’s top 10 universities renowned for excellence in Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Engineering and Technology. The visit took place at the university’s main rectorate building and consisted of two key meetings.

In the first session, the UNDIP delegation was formally received by Beihang University’s rectorate and representatives from its Board of Trustees. In his remarks, the UNDIP Rector expressed strong openness to global collaboration, especially with internationally recognized universities like Beihang.

“We believe that strategic collaboration in higher education and research will accelerate Universitas Diponegoro’s transformation into a world-class institution. This partnership is also part of our commitment to preparing a generation of Indonesian youth who excel in technology and innovation,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

The second session focused on the technical aspects of potential international cooperation between the two universities. The Beihang University delegation was represented by Prof. Bai Lin (Director of the International Relations Department) and Prof. Wu Xiajoun (Deputy Director). The meeting began with presentations on each university’s profile and prospects, followed by an in-depth discussion on collaborative opportunities.

Key areas of cooperation discussed included joint international conferences, professor council colloquiums, staff and student exchange programs, scholarship opportunities, and the potential development of joint or double degree programs. Both parties agreed to move forward with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as an initial step toward formal and sustainable collaboration.

This initiative underscores UNDIP’s active role as an Indonesian higher education institution committed to building global partnerships centered on innovation, science, and the development of internationally competitive human resources. (RPGC/Pulung/Ed. Nurul)
