UNDIP Creates Generation of Innovative Entrepreneurs through P2MW 2025

UNDIP, Semarang (May 15, 2025) – Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in driving economic growth and supporting the realization of Golden Indonesia in 2045. It also serves as a significant catalyst for increasing the national entrepreneur ratio to 8% by 2045.

Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to strengthen its role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students. Through its Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, UNDIP held a socialization event for the 2025 Student Entrepreneur Development Program (P2MW) on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Prof. Sudarto Hall, UNDIP Tembalang Campus.

UNDIP’s Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T. officially opened the event. In his opening remarks, Prof. Heru highlighted the importance of mastering multiple competencies in today’s competitive era.

“If we only have one skill in our field of study, it is not enough. We need at least one additional skill that supports and complements it. This skill is what will make future graduates more competitive. This entrepreneurship program is one of the competencies we aim to provide students with,” Prof. Heru said.

He also noted that only about 40% of university graduates worldwide work in fields directly related to their studies, while the other 60% pursue careers outside their academic disciplines. He said the data underscores the importance of developing horizontal, cross-disciplinary competencies.

“Becoming an entrepreneur may be difficult at first, but once successful, the results are rewarding. This activity is part of our effort to ensure students are not only academically strong but also equipped with entrepreneurial skills,” he added.

The socialization session, moderated by Dr. Ir. Cahya Setya Utama, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., featured two speakers: Anjani Tri Fatharini, S.IP., M.A., who presented the 2025 P2MW Program Guidebook, and Yohanes Thianika Budiarsa, S.I.Kom., MGMC., who explained the registration system for the program.

P2MW supports entrepreneurial activities for students who already have product prototypes or are running businesses. The 2025 program emphasizes applying innovation in business while prioritizing sustainability as a core value. Higher education institutions are expected not only to instill innovative entrepreneurial character but also to ensure that ventures have a lasting impact.

Moreover, universities are encouraged to strengthen regional entrepreneurship through partnerships with the business and industrial sectors. These collaborations are expected to accelerate the goals of P2MW, which are grounded in experiential, real-world entrepreneurial learning. P2MW 2025 is expected to focus not only on the formation of innovative entrepreneurial characters but also on those that can provide impact and sustainability.

UNDIP is committed to developing a generation that is resilient, innovative and adaptive. Through this program, students are expected not only to be competitive in the job market but also to create job opportunities and contribute meaningfully to national economic development.
