UNDIP, Semarang (May 26, 2025) – A proud moment has come for Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) as Farhan Gimnastiar Maslihan, an undergraduate student in the Applied Bachelor of Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (Teknologi Rekayasa Kimia Industri / TRKI) program at the UNDIP Vocational School, has once again brought international recognition to his university. Farhan has been selected to participate in a prestigious international internship program at Chang Gung University, Taiwan.
He was accepted into the Taiwan International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP), organized by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC). This program offers talented international students the opportunity to explore Taiwan’s advancements in science and technology through hands-on experience in industries, laboratories, and renowned research institutions. During his internship, Farhan will focus on membrane technology research, a field vital to the development of sustainable energy and environmental solutions.
Farhan’s accomplishments are nothing new. He is widely recognized as a multitalented and inspiring young individual who actively engages not only in academics but also in social initiatives, research, and youth leadership. In 2024 alone, Farhan secured nine intellectual property rights and patents, covering areas from alternative energy to regional batik design.
His contributions extend further—Farhan presented his eco-friendly antibacterial detergent project titled “Development of Anti-Bacteria Liquid Detergent Using Muntinga calabura Leaf Extract and Lipozyme Enzyme For Enhanced Foam Stability” at the INSPINSA international conference. The innovative work earned him a spot in the Merdeka Student Internship Program (MSIB Batch 6), sponsored by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Farhan is also listed as an author in international scientific journals and frequently speaks at national forums on education and student affairs. He has received national research and community empowerment grants, including from the Student Creativity Program in Exact Research (PKM-RE), the Pertamina Foundation’s Independent Energy Village program, the Village Community Empowerment Program (P2MD), and the Vocational Young Entrepreneurs Program.
In arts and culture, Farhan has continued to make UNDIP proud, winning first place in the Poetry Reading Competition at the Diponegoro Art Competition and placing as a top finalist in the Central Java Student Arts Week.
His wide-ranging impact is further reflected in his organizational involvement. Farhan is actively involved in the TRKI Student Association and the UNDIP Vocational School Student Executive Board (BEM SV), currently serving as the Head of the Research and Scientific Affairs Division. His impressive industry internship experience includes stints at PT Kaltim Methanol Industri, PT Pertamina International Refinery RU VI, and PT Semen Gresik Rembang.
Farhan’s exceptional track record has drawn the attention of the national media and inspired many students across Indonesia. Through his dedication, innovation, and hard work, he has proven that Indonesian youth can compete globally and make a real impact.
Farhan credits his passion for learning and meaningful contribution as his driving force. “I want to prove that vocational students can also achieve global success and bring change to society,” he said with determination.
