Pancasila Day 2025 Ceremony: UNDIP Rector Urges Academic Community to Uphold Pancasila Values

UNDIP, Semarang (June 2, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held a ceremony on Monday, June 2, 2025, to commemorate the birth of Pancasila at the Widya Puraya field on the UNDIP Tembalang campus. Observed annually on June 1, Pancasila Day honors the foundational ideology of the Indonesian state. The 2025 theme is “Strengthening the Pancasila Ideology Toward a Greater Indonesia.”

UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who led the ceremony, read the official address from Yudian Wahyudi, Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (Badan Pembinaan Ideologi Pancasila / BPIP) of the Republic of Indonesia. In his message, Wahyudi emphasized that the 2025 commemoration is a vital moment to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to the core values upon which Indonesia was founded.

Pancasila, he stated, is not merely a historical legacy but the soul and guiding principle of the nation in facing modern challenges, such as globalization, technological disruption, and threats to national unity. Through the Asta Cita vision for a Golden Indonesia 2045, the government has prioritized reinforcing the Pancasila ideology across various sectors, including education, governance, the economy, and the digital realm. All citizens are called to embody Pancasila through real actions in building a just, advanced, and dignified Indonesia.

Reflecting the theme “Strengthening the Pancasila Ideology Toward a Greater Indonesia,” Prof. Suharnomo said in his speech that the occasion reinforces UNDIP’s role in instilling Pancasila values in everyday life. The orderly and solemn flag-raising ceremony, he noted, reflects the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the UNDIP academic community.

On a national scale, UNDIP plays a significant role in safeguarding and implementing Pancasila ideology. Prof. Suharnomo noted that out of more than 4,300 universities in Indonesia, UNDIP has been entrusted as the sole university included in the National Team Revising the Pancasila Teaching Methodology. The team collaborates with BPIP, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the National Institute of Public Administration (LAN), the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, the Marine Institute, and the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

“We are jointly formulating how to implement Pancasila with a fresh approach in our lives, especially for the younger generation. Alhamdulillah, UNDIP continues to play a key role in strengthening Pancasila values,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

Highlighting UNDIP’s broader contributions to national development and equitable welfare, the Rector announced several collaborations with stakeholders. “Today, we will also inaugurate the Polytron Stadium, an international-standard badminton venue developed in partnership with PT Polytron. This development adds to our facilities, which already include an international basketball arena. Just last week, UNDIP also inaugurated a new six-story Shared Parking Building with a 368-car capacity, located near the Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Public Health, and the National Diponegoro Hospital (RSND),” he added.

Prof. Suharnomo affirmed that UNDIP is ready to host both national and international events thanks to its growing infrastructure and resources. He also encouraged the entire academic community to maintain a high quality of life by balancing all aspects of living while upholding the values of Pancasila. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Titis)
