Supporting the Equitable Distribution of Specialist Doctors, UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine Sends Residents to Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost Regions

UNDIP, Sambas (15/1) – The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP) has established a strategic collaboration with Pemangkat Regional General Hospital (RSUD Pemangkat), Sambas Regency, for the deployment of residents from the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Study Program to disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions (3T) on Thursday, January 15, 2026. This initiative is part of UNDIP’s commitment to supporting the equitable distribution of medical education and strengthening national healthcare services.

The collaboration began with a visit by UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine to RSUD Pemangkat to assess the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, human resources, service systems, and safety and quality aspects of clinical education. The visitation also served as a platform for dialogue between UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine, the local government, and the partner hospital to align regional healthcare needs with the implementation of high-quality clinical education.

The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) is strengthening health education and services in Sambas Regency and is ready to send residents to Pemangkat Regional Hospital.

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Diponegoro aims to strengthen medical education and healthcare services in Sambas Regency and is prepared to deploy residents to RSUD Pemangkat. dr. Muflihatul Muniroh, M.Si., Med., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, stated that sending residents to 3T regions reflects the strategic role of higher education institutions in fulfilling the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in education and community service. This program is expected not only to enhance residents’ competencies but also to provide tangible contributions to strengthening local community healthcare services.

Through structured and sustainable collaboration, UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine emphasizes the importance of cross-sector support, including from local governments and partner hospitals, to ensure proper guidance, supervision, and the safety of residents during their clinical education in 3T regions.

This effort aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships), through strengthening healthcare systems and promoting the equitable distribution of specialist doctors in priority regions.
