UNDIP, Semarang (17/7) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has entered a new phase in the development of its Pleburan Campus through three significant milestones that mark the sustainable transformation of the campus area. In a single series of events, UNDIP officially inaugurated Tower 1 of the Pleburan Campus, held a joint prayer ceremony to mark the commencement of Tower 2 construction, and conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for a coworking space donated by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) on Friday, July 17, 2026.
These three initiatives symbolize UNDIP’s commitment to building a higher education ecosystem that is increasingly modern, inclusive, and collaborative. Beyond constructing new facilities, the development of the Pleburan Campus aims to create spaces for learning, innovation, and collaboration that can address the challenges of education in the digital transformation era.
The inauguration of Tower 1 marks the beginning of operations for a building that will strengthen academic and administrative services at the Pleburan Campus. Equipped with modern and representative facilities, the tower is expected to enhance comfort for the academic community while supporting a more effective learning process.
The event continued with a prayer ceremony as an expression of gratitude and hope that the construction of Tower 2 will proceed smoothly, safely, and provide long-term benefits for the development of Universitas Diponegoro. Once completed, Tower 2 will complement the Twin Tower Pleburan Campus complex as a new landmark representing UNDIP’s transformation toward a world-class university.
UNDIP’s commitment to strengthening its academic ecosystem was further reinforced through the groundbreaking of the coworking space funded by BNI. The facility is designed as a collaborative hub where students, lecturers, researchers, alumni, industry professionals, and innovation communities can come together to generate ideas, research, and impactful solutions for society.
Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., emphasized that the infrastructure development is not merely about providing physical facilities but also serves as a strategic investment to improve educational quality, particularly for the Postgraduate School and Vocational School.
“Today is not only about inaugurating a new building. It is about advancing learning within the Graduate School and the Vocational School. We hope that the UNDIP Pleburan Twin Towers and the coworking space will become places where collaboration, innovation, and transformative ideas are born, enabling UNDIP to become increasingly competitive at both the national and global levels,” said the Rector.
Prof. Suharnomo also expressed appreciation to all parties that have supported the development of the Pleburan Campus, particularly BNI, for its commitment to advancing higher education through the development of the coworking space.
Meanwhile, BNI representative Emanuella Gilarsari stated that the coworking space at the UNDIP Pleburan campus is intended to provide a high-quality and comfortable learning environment. In addition, efforts have been made to organize and accommodate street vendors (Pedagang Kaki Lima or PKL) to ensure they can conduct their businesses safely and comfortably. She expressed hope that the strong partnership between UNDIP and BNI in financial services and facility development would continue in the future.
Dr. Ir. Agung Dwiyanto, M.T., Commitment-Making Officer (Pejabat Pembuat Komitmen / PPK) for the Tower 1 project, presented an overview of the UNDIP Pleburan Twin Tower Project, highlighting four key design concepts. The first is community, where the buildings function as living spaces for campus communities, with every element supporting educational journeys and student well-being to create a harmonious environment.
The second is connecting, achieved through a sky bridge linking the two towers and creating a unique spatial experience that offers the sensation of floating above the city while enjoying green views from every direction.
The third concept is green area, reflected in the extensive integration of green spaces throughout the development, including surrounding gardens, rooftop gardens, and courtyards. These green areas also serve as healthy recreational spaces.
The fourth concept is collaborative space, which provides facilities designed to accommodate various student and campus activities. Recreational areas are expected to strengthen social bonds among students while promoting a healthy balance between academic pursuits and social life. With the inauguration of Tower 1, the commencement of Tower 2 construction, and the groundbreaking of the BNI-funded coworking space, Universitas Diponegoro continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment, strengthening institutional competitiveness, and producing globally competitive graduates.
