The Art Center Building of the Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Diponegoro (FIB UNDIP) was officially inaugurated on Thursday, September 12, 2024, by the UNDIP Rector, Prof. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., along with the Dean of FIB UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, S.S., M.Hum., and the Chairperson of the FIB UNDIP Alumni Association (IKA FIB UNDIP), Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, S.S., M.M. Standing majestically to the west of the Widya Puraya Building, the Art Center will serve as the center for cultural activities for all of UNDIP’s academic community.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the theater room of the UNDIP Art Center Building. It was attended by the Vice Rector for Human Resources, the Vice Rector for Innovation, Research, and Cooperation, the Deans of Faculties/Schools, the Head of the Bureau and the staff. The event began with a performance by the FIB UNDIP Gambang Semarang group, trained by Prof. Dr. Dewi Yuliati, M.A., and Prof. Dr. Drs. Dhanang Respati Puguh, M.Hum., creating a warm and lively Semarang-style atmosphere.
The UNDIP Rector, Prof. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed his gratitude to everyone who had worked hard in the construction of the UNDIP Art Center Building. Prof. Suharnomo also appreciated FIB UNDIP, stating, “I really appreciate FIB for its significant improvements, along with its active collaboration with IKA FIB. Hopefully, this building will be beneficial for everyone.”
Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, S.S., M.Hum., the Dean of FIB UNDIP, explained that the UNDIP Art Center Building will become the starting point for documentation and studies about Prince Diponegoro. The building was constructed to support UNDIP’s growth into an increasingly reputable, excellent, and culturally enriched university.
“There are many books about Prince Diponegoro and a model of the Diponegoro War. Thank you for the donation from Mr. Supriyo from the Department of History. We, from FIB UNDIP, are ready to make the Art Center Building a hub for art and cultural activities for all faculties,” he stated.
The Chairperson of IKA FIB UNDIP, Agustina Wilujeng Pramestuti, S.S., M.M., expressed her dream of advancing FIB UNDIP together with the alumni association through cultural events held at the Art Center. “For the past three years, we have been working alongside the construction of the Art Center building. Hopefully, we can organize art performances here. The UNDIP Art Center Building will serve as a center for cultural growth in Indonesia, initiated by UNDIP students,” she said.
To enliven the inauguration event of the Art Center Building, the FIB UNDIP team collaborated with 25 batik SMEs and the Biyung Pranodo Association from Jepara Regency, featuring batik-making booths, Gambyong dance performances, and Saman dance performances by FIB UNDIP students, as well as a musicalized batik fashion show.
