SEMARANG – Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Diponegoro University (UNDIP) is included in the World’s Best 601+ based on the ranking conducted by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking (WUR) 2021. This ranking shows that the reputation of FEB Undip and its managed study programs are on the level of world class university.

The recognition given by the international rating agency brings UNDIP’s efforts under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. to enter the world’s 500 best universities, as well as become a superior research university. “I am proud of this result. These results show we are on the right track to reach the top 500 universities in the world. But it needs to be understood that our determination and commitment is to bring UNDIP into the ranks of the world’s 500 best universities. Therefore, we still have to work even harder”, said Yos Johan Utama, on Tuesday (3/11/2020).

To be noted, of the several indicators used, there are several prominent assessment points from FEB UNDIP which were noted by THE WUR, including the aspect of industry income which assesses the ability of universities to help the industrial world with innovation, discovery, and consultancy so that the industrial world also benefits from the development of science. On this indicator, UNDIP is in the highest position among universities in Indonesia that enter, with a score of 99.2, while UGM scores 97.5 and UI 88.4 points. This indicator also shows that UNDIP has a good network with major companies in Indonesia.

In the research aspect, FEB UNDIP is in cluster 1 with UGM and UI. UNDIP has a score of 13.0; while UI and UGM have scores of 14.9 and 14.2. Then from the aspect of teaching the scores of UNDIP, UI and UGM were 20.8 each; 37, 9 and 19.8.

Interesting thing to be noted is the trend of submission of foreign students studying economics and business in universities in Indonesia. At University of Indonesia, the number reaches 10% of the total number of students, at UGM 6%. While at ITB, Undip, and UB the portion is 2%. In Unpad, the number of foreign students studying economics and business is recorded at 1%. (Complete score comparison see Table)

Overall, there are two large clusters of assessment results: UGM and UI are in the first cluster, which is in the 501 – 600 rankings with a total score of 22.5 – 27.1 and ITB, Brawijaya University, UNDIP and UNPAD are in the second cluster with a rating of 602+ and a total value of 8.5 – 22.4.

The six faculties of business economics in Indonesia that were assessed by THE WUR 2021 all have a higher proportion of female students than male students, except at ITB. The highest composition of female students compared to male is at UI where the ratio is 66: 34, while at ITB 42:58.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021 is currently the largest ranking with the most diverse university backgrounds, assessing more than 1,500 universities from 93 countries and regions.
