UNDIP Alumni in the Kabinet Merah Putih Return to Campus with ‘Rosi on Location’

‘Rosi on Location’ on Kompas TV (November 16, 2024) was held in the grandest building in Jawa Tengah, the Muladi Dome, attended by approximately 5,000 UNDIP students from all faculties. They were highly enthusiastic to hear about the experiences of UNDIP alumni who have successfully joined the Kabinet Merah Putih.

In his remarks, the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Suharnomo, expressed his pride, stating that in every cabinet, UNDIP consistently contributes its best talents. In the current cabinet, there are even three alumni. The Rector emphasized that the achievements of UNDIP alumni align with Diponegoro University’s new tagline: UNDIP Bermartabat, UNDIP Bermanfaat (Dignified UNDIP, Beneficial UNDIP).

“I want UNDIP not only to produce academically dignified human resources but also those who are beneficial. Today, there are many smart people, but those who are both smart and beneficial to others are rare,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

The university’s leadership also attended the taping of ‘Rosi on Location,’ themed “Starting and Moving from Campus.” The event, hosted by senior presenter Rosianna Silalahi, featured three UNDIP alumni as speakers.

Abdul Kadir Karding, currently serving as the Minister of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers under President Prabowo, was the first to share his story. A 1992 alumnus of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), he recounted an incident during his fieldwork where he was stranded on a remote island in Teluk Awur. Rescued by a SAR team after several hours, this experience became a turning point, inspiring him to become a campus activist at the time.

Another invited alumni speaker was Diana Kusumastuti, Deputy Minister of Public Works, an alumna of the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Architecture, class of 1985. Despite her calm and gentle demeanor, she is known as a resilient figure, having worked in male-dominated environments. When asked by Rosi for tips on achieving success, Diana outlined three keys: focusing on competence, working well in a team, and respecting others.

The final speaker, Juanita Jemimah Cita, a 2017 alumnus of the Faculty of Law, shared her experience. Since competing in Indonesian Idol, where she gained popularity and reached the top five, Jemimah’s career in the arts has flourished. She closed her session with a performance of one of her upcoming songs, set to be released in her latest album.

‘Rosi on Location,’ initiated by Yogi Arief Nugroho, Secretary-General of IKA FISIP and Editor-in-Chief of Kompas TV, is part of the FISIP Fest series organized by the Alumni Association of FISIP UNDIP (IKA FISIP) from November 15–17, 2024. The event also collaborated with UNDIP’s Directorate of Media Networking, Community, and Public Communication (JMK2P) under Vice Rector IV, Wijayanto, Ph.D.

Vice Rector IV stated that this event is an essential step for UNDIP to continue building networks with media and communities to realize the vision of Dignified UNDIP and Beneficial UNDIP.

Meanwhile, Masrokhan Sulaiman, Chairman of IKA FISIP 2021–2024, remarked that this FISIP Fest, themed “Collaboration Day,” reflects the alumni’s commitment to continuously collaborate and synergize with students, academics, businesses, and the wider community.

Dean of FISIP UNDIP, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., expressed appreciation for IKA FISIP’s significant contributions to the campus. These include building co-working spaces and providing scholarships worth nearly 800 million IDR for 100 underprivileged but high-achieving FISIP students.

In addition to ‘Rosi on Location,’ FISIP Fest featured various other events, such as a job fair, MSME exhibitions, a music festival featuring Yovie & Nuno, and a healthy walk. The ‘Rosi on Location’ program is scheduled to air on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 9:00 PM WIB on Kompas TV. (NH)
