Universitas Diponegoro’s Library continues to provide excellent services for students, lecturers, staff, and other campus members, allowing visits and access to its services until 7:00 PM. Previously, the library’s visiting hours were aligned with regular office hours, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Due to the increased interest among students in visiting the library, the UPT Library and UNDIP Press extended the service hours, adding a time slot from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This extended service was officially launched by UNDIP Vice Rector for Communication and Business, Prof. Budi Setiyono, S.Sos., M.Pol.Admin., Ph.D., took place at the UPT Library and UNDIP Press, 1st floor, on Friday (May 3, 2024). The extended hours have been effective since May 1, 2024.
In his speech, Prof. Budi Setiyono emphasized that extending UNDIP library visiting hours is a breakthrough with a significant impact, especially for students who have classes until late afternoon. This extension allows them extra time to visit the library until 7:00 PM WIB. Prof. Budi also reminded library visitors to maintain security and comfort for all.
“In the past, scholars would isolate themselves to gain wisdom. Today, it is the opposite—scholars and knowledgeable individuals frequently visit libraries to read and expand their knowledge,” Prof. Budi said. He added that libraries are not only places for reading but also spaces for discussion across various fields of study and networking. “Utilize the library as best as you can—it can also be used for podcasts or casual, insightful discussions that broaden horizons,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of UPT Library and UNDIP Press, Suwondo, S.Hum., M.Kom., reported a growing number of visitors to the UNDIP Library. This increase is attributed to the library’s comfortable and air-conditioned facilities. Besides the cozy reading spaces, the library staff is known for their friendly service, adhering to the 5S principles: (Sapa, Senyum, Salam, Sopan dan Santun) / Greet, Smile, Salute, Polite, and Courteous.
Facilities in the UNDIP Library include clean restrooms and water dispensers for visitors. The library has also hosted 51 webinars, uploaded them to the UPT Library and UNDIP Press YouTube account, and received various awards, including 1st place nationally from Emerald Publishing. Universitas Diponegoro has also been ranked 7th globally and 2nd in Asia.
At the end of the launch event for UNDIP Library’s extended hours, several awards were announced to appreciate library visitors and users, including:
