UNDIP Campus Mosque Presents Gus Yasin to Discuss Muslim Leadership

UNDIP, Semarang (March 22) – Throughout Ramadan 1446 Hijri, the Universitas Diponegoro Campus Mosque has been hosting various activities to commemorate the holy month. One of the highlights is the Ramadan Spiritual Tour Lecture, featuring the Deputy Governor of Jawa Tengah, Taj Yasin Maimoen, commonly known as Gus Yasin.

Held on Friday, March 21, 2025, the session focused on the theme “Becoming a Muslim Leader.” In his lecture, Gus Yasin emphasized the qualities of an ideal leader in Islam, including justice, prioritizing the public interest, and resisting personal desires. He also shared hadiths and Quranic verses that illustrate how leadership ultimately leads back to accountability before Allah SWT.

Gus Yasin reminded the audience that every individual is a leader in some capacity, at the very least within their own family. Therefore, he urged attendees to embrace responsibility, as all leaders will be held accountable for their actions.

“Every human being is a leader, and every leader will be held accountable on the Day of Judgment. The Prophet Muhammad always emphasized responsibility when addressing leaders,” he stated.

UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., who attended the event, encouraged students to gain insights into leadership through the lecture and apply these lessons in their future roles. “We hope that today’s discussion provides students with a clearer picture of what it means to be a good leader in the future,” he said.

Prof. Suharnomo also highlighted UNDIP’s commitment to supporting the Jawa Tengah Provincial Government programs. One of UNDIP’s flagship initiatives is a clean water desalination program, which is planned for replication in several regions. “UNDIP is ready to contribute in 35 different fields to support the provincial government’s programs, ranging from seawater desalination to stunting prevention,” he added.

The Ramadan Spiritual Tour Lecture at UNDIP Campus Mosque is held daily before iftar, aiming to enhance students’ faith and strengthen their connection with Allah SWT throughout the fasting month. (Hng-Public Relation)
