The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held a Halal Bihalal event combined with the 59th Kartini Day celebration and a farewell ceremony for the DWP UNDIP Chairperson. The event took place at the 4th Floor Hall of the KWU Building, Faculty of Economics and Business, UNDIP, on Tuesday (April 30, 2024). The Halal Bihalal event was themed “Kartini’s Inspiration: Enhancing Spirituality and Women’s Struggles.”
In her remarks, the retiring Chairperson of DWP UNDIP for the 2019-2024 period, Mrs. Asih Yos Johan Utama, expressed her gratitude to the DWP administrators within Universitas Diponegoro for their presence. She also thanked them for their support and dedication in advancing DWP UNDIP.
“Dharma Wanita Persatuan is a platform for the wives of staff members and female employees to participate and empower women to contribute to advancing institutions and the nation,” said Mrs. Asih. “Many social and community service activities have positively impacted the welfare of society,” she added. She encouraged all members of DWP UNDIP to support the programs of the DWP UNDIP Chairperson for the 2024-2029 period to achieve even greater success.
The Halal Bihalal included a religious sermon (tausiyah) delivered by Ustadz Dian, who highlighted that women’s roles have become increasingly complex with the changing times. As both wives and mothers, women face significant challenges, primarily when they also work professionally. Women must act as a balancing force and are therefore encouraged to attain higher education. At home, parents, especially mothers, play the vital role of being the primary educators for their children.
“With Kartini’s spirit, women are expected to be inspired to progress and educate their children with a strong foundation in faith,” Ustadz Dian concluded.
The event continued with the handover ceremony, where Mrs. Asih Yos Johan Utama handed over her responsibilities to the new Chairperson of DWP UNDIP for the 2024-2029 period, Mrs. Dewi Suharnomo. This session was followed by a casual talk featuring DWP Chairpersons from various faculties within Universitas Diponegoro.
The event concluded with a group photo session and door prize giveaways sponsored by partner banks such as BNI, BTN, Mandiri, BRI, and BSI. (Ut-PR)
