The year 2024 marked a significant milestone for Malika Pintanada Kaladinanty, a student of the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology (Teknologi Rekayasa Kimia Industri / TRKI) program at the Vocational School of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP). Gaining admission to UNDIP through the Selection of Potential Students Admission Program (Penerimaan Seleksi Siswa Berpotensi / PSSB) in 2022, Malika has demonstrated her passion for innovation and dedication to sustainability through a series of remarkable achievements.
Armed with robust academic knowledge and strong social awareness, Malika secured First Place in the Social Technology Innovation for Community Challenge, organized by PT Kilang Pertamina International Refinery Unit III Plaju. Her victory was achieved through the development of a sensor-based MINAPADI innovation, which made a tangible impact on the community in Banyuasin Regency, Sumatera Selatan. Additionally, she received funding from the Ormawa Membangun Negeri Program (POMN) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. She qualified for the KPP Mining Youth Program organized by PT Kalimantan Prima Persada.
Malika’s contributions also extend to patents and intellectual property rights (IPRs). Notable among her achievements are patent S00202414012 for a method of developing aromatic instant coffee nanoemulsions and S00202410023 for a pH sensor integrated with a water level sensor for agricultural systems. She also registered two IPRs: EC002024229843 for the production of instant coffee nanoemulsions and EC002024230735 for a controlled delivery system of theaflavin using encapsulation technology.
In collaborative efforts, Malika actively participated in the biodiesel mini plant installation project at UNDIP’s Vocational School, focusing on renewable energy development. Furthermore, she serves as the Head of Research and Scientific Affairs in the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Student Association (HMTRKI), where she fosters knowledge development and student creativity.
Malika acknowledged that UNDIP has provided a supportive environment for academic growth through research initiatives with faculty members and projects on carboxymethyl cellulose and encapsulation technology. She has also learned to manage her time, enhance her critical thinking skills, and build professional networks that significantly impact her future.
Reflecting on her journey, Malika emphasized the importance of education as a cornerstone of success for the younger generation. She also highlighted the need to choose organizations that add value, pointing out that some organizations may be less effective in supporting student development.
In an interview, Malika shared her advice for the youth: “Education equips you with skills for a bright future, while organizations shape you into leaders with integrity. However, choose organizations that genuinely support your personal growth,” she said.
With her unwavering dedication and passion, Malika continues to inspire many, proving that innovation and sustainability can work hand in hand to bring about meaningful change for a better future. (Endy-SV; ed. DHW)
