Medical Assistance for Disaster Victims in Pekalongan Regency by D-DART UNDIP Team II Volunteers

The landslide disaster that struck Pekalongan Regency on Monday, January 20, 2025, has entered the emergency response phase due to extreme weather conditions and blocked road access. Victims, particularly those still residing in the affected areas, have begun experiencing health concerns. As part of its ongoing community service efforts, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has deployed a medical team to the disaster-stricken area, specifically in Petungkriyono Village.

Together with volunteers from the Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART), the team provided medical assistance to affected residents. The second medical team (Team II) was dispatched on Thursday, January 30, 2025, by Prof. Dr. Ing. Suherman, S.T., M.T., Head of UNDIP’s Institute for Research and Community Service (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat / LPPM).

In his briefing, Prof. Suherman emphasized UNDIP’s commitment to supporting disaster victims. “The first team was deployed immediately after the disaster struck, demonstrating UNDIP’s presence in the community—not only through academic research but also through direct community service. ‘Noble and Valuable UNDIP.’ Team II will focus on medical needs in the disaster area, consisting of faculty members and students with relevant expertise,” he added.

The deployed team stayed in the disaster zone to provide more comprehensive support. The members of Team II included Aldani Putri Wijayanti, S.Psi., M.Sc. (Faculty of Psychology), and students M. Umar Dani (Faculty of Medicine), Mohammad Pandu Pradana, S.Si. (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences), Ahmad Aqil Widyantoro, S.EI. (Faculty of Economics and Business), Nabil Muhammad Daffa’ (Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences) and Lutvia Ilma Winardi (Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences).

Other D-DART members involved were Prof. dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si.Med., MMR, Sp.And.(K), Ph.D., Ns. Nur Hafizhah Widyaningtyas, S.Kep., M.Kep., Marsha Yoke Nancy, S.Kep., Ns., M.N.Sc., Nurhasmadiar Nandini, S.KM., M.Kes., Ns. Henni Kusuma, S.Kep., M.Kep, Sp.KMB, and Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D.

Medical services were provided daily for approximately one week after the disaster, conducted door-to-door to ensure easier access for residents. The services included medical history assessments (anamnesis) and mental health screenings. Additionally, Team II assisted with public kitchen operations and logistical management.
