UNDIP, Semarang (March 16) – The Directorate of Partnership and Global Connectivity at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) hosted an Open Iftar with international students at Hotel Horison Antawirya, Tembalang. The event welcomed students from various countries, including Pakistan, the Netherlands, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Kenya, Botswana, the Solomon Islands, Yemen, Syria, China, South Korea, and Japan.
This gathering was part of the International Students Gathering, an annual event at UNDIP. However, as it coincided with the holy month of Ramadan, this year’s theme was Open Iftar, emphasizing unity and togetherness in breaking the fast.
During the event, international students shared their experiences regarding academic life at UNDIP. For many, this was their first time meeting each other, making it a valuable opportunity to strengthen friendships. Unfortunately, some students were unable to attend as they were conducting research outside the city.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, Director of Reputation, Partnership, and Global Connectivity (RPGC) at UNDIP, stated that the event aimed to foster stronger connections among international students while also introducing them to Indonesian culture during Ramadan.
“Through this event, we hope to create an inclusive environment for international students, where they can experience togetherness in diversity and build wider social networks,” said a representative from the Directorate of Partnership and Global Connectivity at UNDIP.
By hosting Open Iftar, UNDIP hopes to integrate international students into campus life further and provide them with a sense of belonging. Similar events are planned for the future as part of UNDIP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen global relations and make the university a second home for students from around the world. (RPGC Team, Ed.
