Semarang, UNDIP (February 20) – As the spearhead of literacy, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) librarians contribute to supporting institutional leaders, lecturers, researchers, and students in realizing the goals of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The role of libraries and librarians in literacy development is significant. Library literacy is not just about introducing reading and writing within the library but also involves dedication across various fields.
In an interview on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Dra. Anita Nurmasari (Senior Librarian at UNDIP Library and UNDIP Press) stated that being a professional librarian requires not only expertise in the field but also integrity, personality, and adaptability.
“When I first started working as a librarian, I applied the knowledge I had acquired and put it into practice. We implement theories while working, and if we face difficulties, we shouldn’t hesitate to ask questions,” she explained.
Furthermore, Anita emphasized that the library serves as a center for information access and education. By leveraging technology and innovation, UNDIP Library continues to evolve, making a significant contribution to fostering a knowledgeable academic community connected globally.
Meanwhile, Haryani, S.Sos., M.IP (Senior Librarian at UNDIP Library and UNDIP Press) highlighted that UNDIP Library has organized various educational activities, such as seminars, training sessions, and discussions, aimed at enhancing literacy and creating a conducive and effective learning environment, especially for students. The library serves as an information hub, while librarians act as mediators in the transfer of knowledge between visitors and the library.
“Librarians actively connect users with information resources and knowledge. I have been dedicated to this profession and have studied it earnestly. We must keep learning to stay updated with scientific and technological advancements. Librarians must be progressive, inspiring, creative, and innovative to meet the challenges of the times,” Haryani concluded.
