UNDIP Opens Outstanding New Student Admission 2025 Pathways for the Hafidz Qur’an

UNDIP, Semarang (March 19) – Rector of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., announced that UNDIP provides opportunities for Hafidz Qur’an (a person who memorizes Qur’an) to become prospective students through the Seleksi Bibit Unggul Berprestasi (SBUB) or Outstanding New Student Admission for religious track. He conveyed this during the Ramadan Talk Show at the Grand Mosque of Jawa Tengah (MAJT) with the theme “Tahfidz Scholarship at UNDIP” on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Prof. Suharnomo further explained that the 2025 SBUB admission period runs from February 18 to May 5, 2025. “UNDIP offers a religious track requiring a minimum memorization of 20 Juz. Alhamdulillah, every year we receive hundreds of applicants,” he stated. “So, those who have memorized at least 20 Juz can apply to any program at UNDIP through SBUB,” he added, emphasizing that applicants in this pathway are free to choose their desired study programs.

Prof. Suharnomo believes that Hafidz Qur’an have a strong correlation with academic excellence in their chosen fields. The SBUB religious track is also a form of appreciation for their dedication.

“We believe that aside from the blessings of the Qur’an itself, memorizing hundreds of pages is an exceptional achievement, demonstrating remarkable talent,” he explained.

According to the UNDIP Rector, this special pathway aims to integrate religious and general sciences. “Those who have memorized the Qur’an already possess strong religious knowledge. When combined with general studies, it creates an extraordinary blend of expertise,” he asserted.

“Practically, Qur’an memorization and MTQ (Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an) are held as national competitions. We must seek out talented individuals who can compete at the national level,” he added. During Ramadan, he noted that most of the imams at UNDIP’s campus mosque are alumni of the SBUB religious track.

Prospective students applying through the SBUB religious track will undergo both administrative selection and a memorization test to verify their 20 Juz proficiency in line with their chosen program. “This ensures that the applicants genuinely meet the memorization requirement,” he emphasized.

Additionally, UNDIP admits a minimum of 20% of its students through the Bidikmisi scholarship program, with an average intake of 23%. “For every 10,000 new students, around 2,500 are Bidikmisi recipients across all programs,” he concluded.

The Ramadan Talk Show, hosted by Fadjar Tri Utami, was attended by the Secretary of PP MAJT, Drs. KH Muhyiddin, M.Ag., Tahfidz students from the MAJT-Baznas Jawa Tengah, and students from SMAN 14 Semarang and SMKN 5 Semarang.
