UNDIP, Semarang (February 10) – The students of Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) Team I Community Service (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN) Program for the 2024/2025 year held an Exhibition Event (Gelar Karya) themed “Empowering Local Resources Through Community Service Students to Help Alleviate Poverty and Achieve Sustainable Food Security.” The event featured various creative projects, innovations, and student contributions to the community.
Held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Miri Sub-District Office in Sragen Regency, the event brought together residents, academics, and government officials from Sragen Regency.
The event was attended by Miri Sub-District Head Ali Rachmanto, S.T.; Sumberlawang Sub-District Head Indarto Setyo Pramono, S.STP., M.Si.; local village officials; community representatives; and UNDIP Community Service students.
The Gelar Karya aimed to present various innovations and programs implemented by 186 students over 40 days across 19 villages in Miri and Sumberlawang sub-districts. Activities included exhibitions, program presentations, booth visits, and interactive discussions on student contributions to local resource empowerment, creative economy, environmental initiatives, education, and MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) development.
Dr. dr. Sri Winarni, M.Kes., representative of UNDIP’s Community Service Center (Pusat Pengembangan Kuliah Kerja Nyata / P2KKN), expressed gratitude to all parties supporting the students’ community service in Sragen Regency. “We deeply appreciate the collaboration that has taken place over the past 40 days. Thank you to everyone who has guided and supported our students throughout the Community Service program. Although the timeframe is relatively short, we hope that the innovations and programs developed by the students will continue to grow and benefit the community, particularly in Miri and Sumberlawang. By ensuring the sustainability of these programs, the positive impact will be felt even more widely,” she stated.
Miri Sub-District Head Ali Rachmanto, S.T., commended the event, stating, “I am delighted and proud to welcome the Gelar Karya held by UNDIP students in Sumberlawang and Miri subdistricts. This event is a crucial moment to highlight the students’ work and innovations in community development. Congratulations and best wishes to the UNDIP Community Service students who have dedicated their efforts in these two sub-districts. The projects showcased today are tangible proof of students’ ability and creativity in identifying and solving community challenges.”
Similarly, Sumberlawang Sub-District Head, Indarto Setyo Pramono, S.STP., M.Si., expressed his appreciation, “Thank you to Universitas Diponegoro for selecting Miri and Sumberlawang as the focus locations for this year’s Community Service program. To the students, never forget the place where you have contributed. No matter where your journey takes you in the future, always cherish and appreciate your experience in this community service program.”
He also officially opened the Gelar Karya event and encouraged village heads and local officials to maintain communication with UNDIP Community Service students to ensure program continuity and long-term benefits for the community.
Khoirun Nissa Kurniati Zahra, Chair of the Gelar Karya Event in Sragen Regency, emphasized the event’s significance in fostering collaboration between students and the community. “This event represents a concrete example of student-community collaboration in improving quality of life and supporting development in Sragen Regency. It provides a platform for students to express their creativity and present their best innovations, which have been implemented as flagship programs for the community. We hope this event will allow all the hard work and innovations to be presented and adopted by the community and serve as inspiration for future generations. May this initiative strengthen the bond between students and the community and encourage active participation in regional development,” she stated.
The Gelar Karya event featured 19 booths displaying outstanding projects from villages in Miri and Sumberlawang subdistricts. Some of the innovative projects included:
- Corn cob waste processing into briquettes
- Optimization of red lemongrass utilization
- Automated height measurement tool innovation
- Digital marketing for MSMEs
- Livestock education and empowerment
- Development of catfish floss MSMEs
- Waste cooking oil processing awareness programs
- Other innovative products from student-community collaborations
By hosting this event, UNDIP Community Service students hope that their innovations and programs will continue to develop and provide lasting benefits for the people of Sragen Regency.
