Welcoming Lailatul Qadar: Abdurrahman Mosque UNDIP Holds Ramadan Study

UNDIP, Semarang (March 24) – Masjid Abdurrahman, located in the Widya Puraya Building at Universitas Diponegoro, held a Ramadan Study Session as part of efforts to enhance Islamic understanding during the holy month. The session, held on Monday, March 24, 2025, carried the theme “Reaching the Glory of Lailatul Qadar” and aimed to encourage participants to deepen their understanding of the significance and virtues of this night, which is better than a thousand months. The event featured K.H. Nur Fauzan Ahmad, S.S., M.A., as the main speaker.

On this occasion, the UNDIP Rector for the 2019-2024 period, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., delivered the opening sermon. In his address, Prof. Yos emphasized the importance of practicing three key principles: always being grateful for Allah’s blessings, engaging in self-reflection during hardships, and surrendering to Him.

“When facing difficulties, we should strive to have husnuzan (a positive assumption) towards Allah. It could be that behind the trials we endure, there is a hidden blessing waiting for us,” Prof. Yos advised.

Regarding Lailatul Qadar, K.H. Nur Fauzan explained that this blessed night has distinct characteristics described in several hadiths of the Prophet. Among them are a morning sun that does not shine too brightly, cool air, a night marked by a clear sky without clouds, a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, and a temperature that is neither too hot nor too cold. However, the exact timing of Lailatul Qadar remains Allah’s secret, encouraging Muslims to intensify their worship throughout Ramadan.

“Lailatul Qadar is closely related to the Qur’an. Those who attain its blessings are those who have been close to the Qur’an from the start of Ramadan—reading and practicing it. InshaAllah, they will be the ones who receive its wisdom,” he stated.

Ramadan, according to K.H. Nur Fauzan, can be seen as a glimpse of the paradise that Allah bestows upon His servants. “Humans are essentially pure beings. The Prophet likens those who observe Ramadan appropriately to a newborn baby, as their sins are wiped away,” he added.

Concluding his sermon, he urged participants to maintain their good deeds beyond Ramadan. “Do not be servants of Ramadan alone, but become Rabbani (God-conscious) servants. Ramadan comes only once a year, but Rabbani (Allah SWT) is eternal,” he reminded.

With the blessed atmosphere of Ramadan, this study session is likely to serve as a means to strengthen faith and prepare for the virtues of Lailatul Qadar. (Hng-Public Relations)
