Clinical Activities of PPDS UNDIP Students Reaches 90 Percent at RSUP Dr. Kariadi

The atmosphere of mourning still lingers at Diponegoro University following the passing of one of the nation’s daughter, the late dr. Aulia Risma Lestari. She is a student of the Anesthesiology Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) at the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP. Excessive workload has become a focal point in this incident, as RSUP Dr. Kariadi operates 24-hour surgeries.

dr. Muflihatul Muniroh, M.Si., Med., Ph.D., Vice Dean 1 for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University, explained that the national standard curriculum for each specialist program varies and is determined by each Collegium and must be carried out in hospitals.

“Since this is clinical education, it must be conducted in teaching hospitals. For our teaching hospitals, primarily RSUP Dr. Kariadi, our second teaching hospital is Diponegoro National Hospital, as well as other network hospitals,” she explained during the Morning Assembly at the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP on Monday (09/02).

According to Dr. Liha, as she is commonly known, the regulation and authority over academic activities are managed jointly with the Head of the Study Program. However, the regulation of on-call hours at the hospital falls under the authority of the hospital where the PPDS students are stationed.

“The regulation of on-call hours and those related to services is indeed the responsibility of the hospital where the PPDS students are placed, but of course, we work together. The Faculty of Medicine UNDIP collaborates with teaching hospitals to ensure that the competencies expected of PPDS students are achieved so that they can graduate according to the national standards set by their Collegium,” she said.

UNDIP has committed to remaining open in the investigation of the death of the late dr. Aulia Risma Lestari. UNDIP invites all parties to end unproductive debates, conduct evaluations, and look forward to carrying out their respective duties and responsibilities.

“We have formed a Task Force Team together with the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP and RSUP Dr. Kariadi. We continue to work and have implemented several changes to the education system, particularly in the areas of evaluation and monitoring. Our monitoring and evaluation system has been made stricter. We cannot do this alone, as 90% of the clinical activities of PPDS students take place in the hospital. In this case, it is RSUP Dr. Kariadi,” explained dr. Liha.

“We remain open to any findings from the investigation and will continue to cooperate with various parties, including RSUP Dr. Kariadi and the authorities. If anything inappropriate is found, strict action will be taken,” she added.
