UNDIP, Semarang (September 26, 2025) – Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., officially closed the 19th National Student Sports Week (POMNAS XIX 2025). The closing marked the end of the prestigious national student competition, which brought together athletes from 36 provinces to compete and build friendships through sports. The closing ceremony took place at Universitas Diponegoro’s Basketball Stadium in Tembalang on Friday, September 26, 2025.
The closing ceremony began with the men’s basketball final between DKI Jakarta and Jawa Tengah, in which DKI Jakarta claimed victory after an intense match. Out of the 36 contingents competing in POMNAS XIX 2025, DKI Jakarta emerged as the overall champion with 161 medals, followed by Jawa Tengah with 141 medals and Jawa Timur in third place with 104 medals. Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Fauzan, M.Pd., expressed appreciation to the Jawa Tengah provincial government and the organizing universities in the region—UNDIP, UNS, UNNES, UDINUS, UPGRIS, UNWAHAS, UMS, and UNIMUS—for successfully hosting the event in Semarang and Surakarta.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., said he was proud that UNDIP was entrusted as one of the main hosts. “Alhamdulillah, together with seven other universities in Jawa Tengah, we have successfully organized the prestigious POMNAS XIX 2025,” the Rector said, adding that several UNDIP student-athletes had also won medals.
Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., General Chair of the POMNAS XIX 2025 Organizing Committee, expressed his gratitude for the smooth and successful execution of the games, held from September 19, 2025, in Semarang and Surakarta. “We extend our appreciation to the athletes, referees, officials, and all parties who ensured the competition ran well without major obstacles. POMNAS XIX 2025 is not just about medals but also about strengthening unity, friendship, sportsmanship, and fostering the next generation of national athletes,” he said.
Prof. Heru also conveyed thanks to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, the Jawa Tengah Provincial Government, the Indonesian Student Sports Development Board (Badan Pembina Olahraga Mahasiswa Indonesia / BAPOMI), Disporapar (Sports and Tourism Office) of Jawa Tengah, university rectors, sponsors, media, and all parties who supported the event.
The closing ceremony concluded with the handover of the POMNAS host flag from Jawa Tengah to Sumatera Selatan, which will host POMNAS XX in 2027. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Ut)
